Guide to Surfing Snapper
- Always paddle to the inside : everyone does it
- Just as you paddle for a wave start yelling YYEEAAPP : everyone does it
- Ignore the guy yelling YYEEAAPP, drop in and don’t look back : everyone does it
- Don’t surf around people, just run them over: everyone does it
- Ensure you paddle back out right on the shoulder, just in case that guy falls off : everyone does it
- Stare at everyone with a look of absolute hatred on your face: this is not fun people, this is WAR.
- HINT: Wear inconspicuous gear so you can blend into the crowd and can’t be hunted down
Alternatively, be polite, courteous and friendly. Obey the rules and you won’t get any waves.

Nailed it..... surfed there Saturday & I just don't feel comfortable dropping in on people but everyone else doesn't seem to have a problem. Definitely much worse this year than past years, drop ins the norm not the exception

Love those double up sections. The guy on the last wave proved anyone can get a barrel and make it out, no wonder it is so crowded.

How is there not more injuries and punch ups out there?
It's a circus.

Yep, exactly right. I think I'm too courteous and Respectful as true surfers should be. Superbank has to be like Waimea I guess. 3-4 catching same wave. What a hoax. This is not fun surfing, I never come out satisfied, but more stressed and frustrated. Not how sjrfing should make u feel. I could not excite myself to dodge heads. Better when its onshore and not perfect. Aaaaaaarrggh

Problem is anybody can surf it. Sand bottom, warm water, only real good up to around 4-5 foot, airport out the back, awful strip shops adjacent it, tower block accomodation, etc... just made for the masses. I always wondered what happens when you add the worlds best in the mix if no one seems to give a toss about dropping in. Must be absolute chaos. Do they go with the flow and drop in on each other whilst the punters are dropping in on them and each other? Good luck with that.

Yep sick waves but give me a good beach break down here with no one out any day!

Whatever happened to creative stalling, a la Engel and Fallander? Half these guys are doing a five second stall for a three second barrel. Try a couple of turns and a stall snap into the barrel boys. Watch some 80s Burleigh footage and you'll get the idea.

Thornton Fallander - wow, that's a cool reference/inspiration - great surfer.

+1 for Engel and Fallander. There's also a mint pic of Critta Byrne doing a brutal stall snap in Nat Young's book I think.

I waited 1 hr to get a wave without having to burn someone only to pull in the pocket and get burnt ! Pulled off with the bloke and he goes gidday mate nice day in a kiwi accent. I told him to fuck off in my best Aussie accent paddled out on defcon 5 and joined the club! Burnt 3 dudes in a row and went in. Great wave but that's not surfing guys a complete cockfest.

You guys have a lot of leftover concrete debris, old bricks and rock everywhere from all the construction so why not get creative and run a few rock lines out under the water all along the empty" no banks" stretches like north kirra to Tugun etc etc all the way to surfers. Why let all that super bank sand end up on Fraser Island when you can hold on to a bit for your own surf banks. Don't wait for council to do it for you, get a few mates together and a tinny and start your own project. Bring a few bricks or rocks regularly each and paddle them out on mals or a tinny and drop them in a long line to catch some sand. Leave a wide inshore gutter and start out a bit. Even a couple of guys can build a cracker in a year as its only a line of rocks just don't tell anyone important what your doing. Think big thoughts to get big results or just sit and cry about how crowded it is and when will the mayor save you. Oh yeah, when its flat you can catch some fish there as well.
