Want to take great photos and write about the surf? Then this is your chance to spend the day with two surf culture legends and learn from their experience and gain practical tips to get into the industry.

• A brief history of surf writing and the high points of the genre. 
• Free writing exercises to warm up your writing muscles and teach you to get out of the way of your own writing. 
• Life lessons to be learnt from surfing and the ocean.
• Why surfing makes such great subject matter for story-telling and how it parallels the archetypal “Hero’s Journey”.
• Practical tips for interviewing, observational reporting and travel writing.
• Pitching and submitting stories. 
• How to evoke all the senses to engage your reader.
• Making a living from writing in the digital age.

Craig Parry is an inspiration to the world of photography. World-renowned, highly awarded, and boasting a huge international following, Craig’s journey had humble origins. Growing up in Lennox Head Northern NSW, Australia, it was his parents' gift of a disposable water proof camera each birthday from the age of 5 yrs until his first 35mm SLR at the age of 13 that set young Craig’s course.

Entirely self-taught, Craig worked hard at his craft before making a life-changing decision and becoming a professional photographer in 2004, A defining moment in Craig’s life.

Craig’s stature as a photographer has been indisputably confirmed with his receipt of the award “Landscape Photo of the year for 2014 “.

Craig’s masterworks include “Life and Death" “Emergence” and “Dolphin Silk” Each Limited Edition release is greeted with great enthusiasm by collectors and art enthusiasts.

Now at the top of his game Craig wants to continue to capture the world’s landscapes and oceans and inspire people to take care of the environment and encourage environmental conservation.

Tim Baker is the best-selling author of numerous books on surfing, including “Bustin’ Down The Door,” (Harper Collins, 1996), "High Surf" (Harper Collins, 2007) and "Occy" (Random House, 2008).

Occy was a national bestseller and chosen by the Australia Council as one of “50 Books You can’t Put Down” in 2008. It is currently in development by MacGowan Films, with funding from Screen Australia.

His latest book “Surfari” tells the story of his family surfing road trip around Australia with his wife and two children in 2011. His children’s book “The Surfer and the Mermaid” was adapted to theatre for the Bleach Surf Culture Festival.

Tim is a former editor of Tracks and Surfing Life magazines, and former editorial director of Morrison Media Services. He has won the Surfing Australia Hall of Fame Culture Award three times and been nominated for the CUB Australian Sports Writing Awards.

His work has appeared in Rolling Stone, the Sydney Morning Herald, the Australian Financial Review, the Bulletin, Inside Sport, Playboy, GQ, the Surfers Journal, Qantas - the Australian Way, as well as surfing magazines around the world. He is currently working on a history of Australian surfing to mark the centenary of the great Hawaiian swimmer and surfer Duke Kahanamoku’s historic visit to Australia in 1914.
