The United States(!) of A
- People are not ‘things’. It’s easier to move people than things.
- To indulge your convoluted (and frankly, moronic) analogy, if I was at the beach with my family and we had to get off the beach in a hurry, I’d make sure I’d take my wife and kids, and any of my mates kids that were at the beach with me or I’d noticed at the beach. I would try and make sure I had our wallet, phone house, keys. I’d probably not worry about the gazebo, footy, towels, boogie boards, esky, half a BBQ chook.
- I’d probably not walk over and punch the leader of the local bikie gang on the way out.
- leadership targeting only works as an adjunct to other actions supporting establishment of security conditions. The US has been doing this for 20 years. They’ve learned the limitations of that approach. (Maybe)
- war isn’t football
Your understanding of this issue is laughably simple, which is OK. Because you’re just some punter on the internet. Like me. But I’m not going to engage you on this issue.
You don't think before writing .
The US chose their withdrawal date . They did they not need to hurry ! Why would they as it would lead to a disaster . They just had a very poor plan !
Using your analogy the US decided to leave their kids and their mates families and kids to the Taliban .
"- leadership targeting only works as an adjunct to other actions supporting establishment of security conditions. "
You really need to read some history . The tactic to target leadership has been always used since wars started . As I said it works . If you kill the leader it creates a vacuum . It demoralises the followers .
You really have NFI . It is WAR 101 . Please do some homework !
Hutchy. You’re advocating for extending the war, deploying more troops and recommencing combat operations?
I’ve read a lot of history. Both at undergrad and postgrad levels. I’ve got some time up applying it practically too. I’ve been to Afghanistan four times.
What’re your credentials bud?

Gosh, If only the military brass in the US had access to your expertise hey Hutchy.

"Hutchy. You’re advocating for extending the war, deploying more troops and recommencing combat operations?"
No I am not and never have . You obviously don't read or comprehend what I am writing .
The US should never gone into Afghanistan . If they wanted to try and stop them promoting international terrorism they should have strategically targeted the terrorist leadership . Long range bombing .
When they realised they stuffed up they should have planned a smart withdrawal to minimise the negatives . Not left in a shambolic rush leaving their kids and mates families there .
"I’ve read a lot of history. Both at undergrad and postgrad levels. I’ve got some time up applying it practically too. I’ve been to Afghanistan four times."
You must have done arts ( Gender Studies , Screen and Social Studies ? ) and been to Afghanistan for the poppies .
I suggest you read ( and try and comprehend ) The Art of War by Sun Tzu .
You’re shifting your position like a politician. I’ve read Art of War. And a few others. Suggest you do the same. And read up on the limitations of air strikes while you’re there.
Have a great Father’s Day Hutchy. We’re done.
I hope you have a good fathers day to . A special day .
A pity you did not comprehend what the book said especially about targeting the oppositions leaders .
There is always limitations of any strategy . Still some are much more effective than others .
Where ever you go don't be in a rush and forget the kids .

Ha ha that's gold.
It's crazy how out of a population of over 330 million people the USA gets Trump and then Biden as presidents.
The media though have gone so so easy on Biden, while it was the complete opposite with Trump.
I do really miss the Trump entertainment aspect though.
"It's crazy how out of a population of over 330 million people the USA gets Trump and then Biden as presidents."
good point, I'd already forgotten about trump... but when you put it in a sentence like that it is quite alarming, wtf is going on?
Take the roll post Howard. We shouldn’t be throwing stones.
"Take the roll post Howard. We shouldn’t be throwing stones."
i dunno roker...
while that period is a revolving door of retardedness ...the periods and processes... not necessarily the people ...although...
none of those 'personalities' were anywhere near as dysfunctional as trump and biden...

Good onya Megzee. Yeah figured as much. A lot of life is sucked out of the convos because of his/her incoherrent ramblings and attacks.
Gonna take a little hiatus til the coast is clear. Purely because its mind numbingly nauseating scrolling through his posts to find the real conversations around it. Good luck to all those still standing!! haha

@megzee , you been MIA , was a bit concerned for awhile there . Hows things ? Fishing ? Surfing ?
@megzee. True and wise words.
Hey supafella
Not really missing in action old mate...
Just sitting back and watching the world unfold...
Strength of character is a great gift and does not always involve words
My dad told me that 5 and a half decades ago...
Hope you are well and safe mate
@megzee , all good at this end just some minor inconveniences at the moment with lockdowns. Families getting very wooly on top with hairdressers closed , Ive got a range of bowls but they won’t let me near them . Broke my expensive sunnys and thongs same day and can’t find a shop open to replace them . Surfs been ok and the left on the bar was breaking pretty good for awhile there . Anyway glad your relaxed in this mad mad world. Stay loose in the juice old mate .
Just posted this thread but on reflection I should have posted it here where most of the discussion resides .
Do whatever you want BD .
Unfortunately you haven't answered important questions I have asked .
Most recently , have 85% of other people , not just whites , exhibited a racial action in their whole lives ? I will answer it . Yes . Most children for a start do .
What realistic things can all Australians do to reduce resentment in the Aboriginal communities ? Resentment is the MAJOR cause of substance addiction .
What would you think if I replaced Whitefella thinking with Blackfella thinking ?
Hey Hutchy. Why do you pop on in every thread sounding off like an authority on everything, when in reality you know very little about anything?

Is this the most blatant example of the pot calling the kettle black ever written?

he actually sounds like a narcissist , with a meth problem.......
Brutus. Here, here. Hutchy19, as I’ve mentioned previously, not the sharpest tool in the shed, actually a complete knob. Most comments he or she posts have racial, derogatory or xenophobic undertones. But, I’m sure he or she considers ones self to be the complete Australian who thinks they know everything about anything. Keep up the good work mate (Brutus).
Why do you pop on in every thread sounding off like an authority on everything, - Thanks Hiccup !
Brutus - as you have decided to continue to abuse me I will change my mind and will comment on your posts . "he actually sounds like a narcissist , with a meth problem......."
Brad F is a total fwit hutch (possibly BD in disguise) so I wouldn't pay him any attention. You'd expect brutus to be better than that but sadly, like BF and BD, he's obsessed with 'racism' too (despite the lavish and privileged lifestyle he enjoys).
Thanks Drex . We dinosaurs have very thick skin . Just checked Dbar web cam for a virtual surf . Only 2 guys in the water ! Must be a first on an ok day . I hope the reason is not shark related !

On Friday Russia’s Foreign Ministry summoned the US ambassador to Moscow, John Sullivan, over what's being widely reported as allegations of American "meddling" in upcoming Russian elections.
According to Reuters, "Russia summoned U.S. Ambassador John Sullivan on Friday over alleged interference by the United States in an election, Russian agencies TASS and RIA reported, quoting a diplomatic source."

China's state-run Global Times tabloid, which is viewed as representing the view of Beijing if with a hyperbolic slant, published an op-ed from its editorial board on Wednesday vowing that China’s military will soon confront the U.S. in a hostile exchange, American Military News reported.
"The US will definitely see the PLA show up at its doorstep in the not-too-distant future," the op-ed said. “The two sides’ warships and aircraft on the seas will carry huge mutual strategic hostility, and the two countries will not yield to each other.”
"Once the situation gets out of control and triggers military clash between China and the US, we must give full play to our home field advantage. China will definitely win once there is a war,” the Global Times op-ed said.

Update (1645ET): A grand jury has indicted Michael Sussmann, the lawyer accused of making false statements during the 2016 presidential campaign to slander then-candidate Donald Trump in the final months of the election.
Sussmann, the indictment charges, “lied about the capacity in which he was providing ... allegations to the FBI” of potential cyber links between a Russian bank and a company owned by former president Donald Trump.
...
Durham is pursuing a prosecutorial theory that Sussmann was secretly representing Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, which was a client of Sussmann’s firm, these people said. -Washington Post
Notably, this is far from over as Special Counsel Durham;s office pointed out in the statement that the investigation is "ongoing."
this situation is truly bizarre
whatever your thoughts on the politics of the migrants... this is just insane... this cannot possibly be good political strategy...
and biden's answer... ban drones from flying over
its like biden and co. are trying to be as useless as possible, I honestly cannot fathom what it is they are thinking

This guy works for Biden as Security Advisor . From Zerohedge .
Sullivan is facing scrutiny, sources say, over potentially false statements he made about his involvement in the effort, which continued after the election and into 2017. As a senior foreign policy adviser to Clinton, Sullivan spearheaded what was known inside her campaign as a “confidential project” to link Trump to the Kremlin through dubious email-server records provided to the agencies, said the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
Last week, Michael A. Sussmann, a partner in Perkins Coie, a law firm representing the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee, was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of making false statements to the FBI about his clients and their motives behind planting the rumor, at the highest levels of the FBI, of a secret Trump-Russia server. After a months-long investigation, the FBI found no merit to the rumor.
The grand jury indicated in its lengthy indictment that several people were involved in the alleged conspiracy to mislead the FBI and trigger an investigation of the Republican presidential candidate -- including Sullivan, who was described by his campaign position but not identified by name.
The Clinton campaign project, these sources say, also involved compiling a "digital dossier” on several Trump campaign officials – including Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Paul Manafort, George Papadopoulos, and Carter Page. This effort exploited highly sensitive, nonpublic Internet data related to their personal email communications and web-browsing, known as Internet Protocol, or IP, addresses.

The borders have always been porous in the US. Always as in never not. As in, from the very beginning.
This country would have been much different were that not the case.

Haha Wax,
I am a "victim" of the porosity of the a US borders.
Late 90's travelling solo, drove my '77 Buick down from SD to Mex. At the TJ border checkpoint it was a totally chaotic scene, people jumping in and out of cars, customs officials- telling, pointing, yelling.
Got waved through at the border, because I had California plates on the car. In all the excitement, I didn't get a US exit stamp on my passport...worse I didn't realise this until I had been in Mex about 1 month.
3 months later, having sold my car in Rio Nexpa for $400, I'm thinking I've got the Mexico/Guatemala border crossing sorted. After the US/Mexico debacle, I got my visa for Guatemala in Tapachula. Unfortunately on the bus to the border, I got speaking to a Mexican lad who's English was as poor as my Spanish. After we jumped off the bus, through a convoluted series of events, I followed him up a hill down into a valley. Next thing I know I'm rafting across the rio and have now entered Guatemala illegally.
2 days later I'm at Guatemala/El Salvador border, and again realised (all too late now), that I'm exiting Guatemala without having officially entered the country. The Customs official is screaming at me and waving his gun in my general direction. Fortunately a local Salvadorian guy comes to my rescue and negotiates with the Customs dude on my behalf. With the appropriate bribe paid I'm into El Salvador.
Spent a couple of months there and (again) overstayed my visa- you can't fix stupid!
The upshot of all this, is that I'm now red-flagged travelling into the US, which has caused countless headaches for me returning to the US.
Moral of the story (as told to a US Customs official): I am an idiot
