gun control......and.....USA, doesn't quite go together. It's a fucking shit show of crazy.
Wayne Lapierre...would be the last guy on the planet to run into a school with his gun and take out the bad guy.
Yeah but it is pretty funny how he repeats "thoughts and prayers will save your kids" or something like that.
Abandoning the right to abortion in some states of the United States. Encouraging further gun ownership by removing restrictions. Sounds pretty ethical under the second amendment.
Republicans of the faith are failing humanity in the eye of logic and reason. The NRA and law makers are comfortably numb. Serving Christians or not.
Incredible times in the USA land of the free. Women have now become less free under this removed right of choice. Truly unbelievable seeing this play out in the age we live in. One step forward two steps back.
Preachers of hate or utter negligence. Just don't ask a Texan.
More guns but the removal of abortion says it all under the flag of the free.
A seminar discussion on a new take on the cosmological argument for god's existence...
Dear Colleague,
You are invited to participate in the next session of the Logic and Religion Webinar Series which will be held on Jun 9, 2022, at 4pm CET with the topic:
IBN SINA & BOLZANO: TWO CONTINGENT ARGUMENTS
Speaker: Kordula Świętorzecka (Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, Poland) and Michał Pawłowski and Bartosz Wesół (University of Warsaw, Poland).
Chair: Marcin Trepczyński (University of Warsaw, Poland).
Please register in advance!

Abstract: In 2014, Petr Dvořák put forward a hypothesis about structural convergence of two cosmological arguments: by Avicenna and Bolzano. Indeed, both arguments are based on the notion of the whole (totum) of all contingent/conditioned individuals, different from the notion of the classical set containing them. However, the authors differ in their attitude to the impossibility of regress ad infinitum. Our goal is to reconstruct Avicenna's argument on the basis of modern unitary theory of sets and individuals and compare this reconstruction with the Bolzano’s argument already expressed in the same formal frame. The lecture will be followed by the talk "God and Timeless Cognition", by Michał Pawłowski and Bartosz Wesół, the winners of the second Kurt Gödel Award 2021.

Jesus Christ Simulator....
A very happy Christmas to everyone.
Perhaps look into why Jesus became so famous too. Why His time transformed the world into a socially conscious place via a few good old fishermen , tax man, ex prostitute etc. why we reset our clocks and calculate time from Him. Yes God is and has forgiveness and grace for all….read about Him..don’t take others word..look for yourself in the New Testament.
For those interested , the book of Matthew is great for those who like numbers, facts and figures a true ex tax collectors account. Or Mark the original and the short version…or Luke a Greek GP giving an account as an outsider…or the very spiritual John, his version is so insightful, he really sees the Christ for who He is…the very son of Son…here to visit and save the world…blood for blood ..life for life…the innocent for the guilty.
Santa Claus… or Nicolas was a great guy. He also followed Jesus much later in history. He was from a very wealthy family and his parents died in the plague. He , like some disciples, sold all he had and gave to the poor and had a particular love for helping children by gifting them new and better lives with his wealth. Unfortunately our strange modern society made an idol of him as we do on this earth. Giving honour to the servant and ignoring the master who’s spirit is alive in his people.
Consider Jesus the Christ This Christ mas. He will shield you from the coming darkness. There is no stopping the events on the horizon but take comfort that God Himself has a salvation plan for everyone who is interested. Don’t follow men, all of us are faulty…follow the master…He will take you places and give you a future of peace and joy you could only ever dream of….have a great Christmas and new year.
Merry Xmas mate, I’ve never had a problem with Jesus, christians are a different story, all the best in all that you do .
Is your cup half full or half empty?
All the best crew :)
Year of our Lord Jesus 2023…. Happy New Year !
It takes someone pretty special for everyone to calculate time by.
A pause in history by a carpenter from Nazareth…born in a Bethlehem barn.
If Jesus is who He says He was, and the acts of healing and bringing the dead back to life real, combined with a message that God loves us and wants to reconcile His children to Himself….then, a life for life substitution on the cross enacted….perhaps this is something worth looking into…to read what He taught in the New Testament…to see if there is a plan for us we can understand ….to hear the accounts of some crusty young fisherman….many of us have grasped Gods vision for humanity…..stupid and faulty as we are….and isn’t that a wonderful thing….because if it were only up to perfect people heaven would be empty….
Again …happy new year.

Plenty of room in the Northern River's cults for all. Satan and God are currently having a chat over a chess match and a cuppa. Apparently it's been a nice relaxing start for both leading into 2023. They are both looking forward to the year ahead with much to do and deciding who's soul is who's. They seemed quite content and amicable as usual. The going trade value of souls have dropped slightly but was expected somewhat due to rising costs. Death it seems has always been a safe bet and somewhat pretty stable for both parties.
Both however expressed slight amusement at the prevailing trend of new tech entering the game of soul taking while living. Both warned its fine line between pleasure and pain, heaven or hell regardless. The supply chains remain unaffected despite the threat of new cults emerging or dissolving. All in all they just wished everyone a great year and to know that our souls resting place have already been decided.

Largely due to the efforts of Emperor Constantine (AD 306 - 337). Due largely to political expediency he pushed Christianity back when Rome was still a functioning empire. If not for him, JC would be a footnote in the history books.

Optimist. Happy NY. Well it’s the first day of the new year. I don’t know about you, but calling a carpenter around to yours on New Years Day, especially one thats travelling all that way from Nazareth is going to cost you a bomb, i mean with (EBA’s -Enterprise Bargaining Agreement) these days and the applicable rates applied, you are gonna be up for a minimum of at least, travel expenses, ‘double bubble’ or triple rates by the close of day. You must be loaded with cash (i forgot, thats right, you pass a plate around in your house of worship that frail and low socio-economic people who in most cases cant afford to do, but feel totally obligated by the perceived pressure ) and this non-taxed revenue just finds its way to all manner of society, like your fees to tabloids to suppress forms of criticism to the church and legal fees for employees under question for misdemeanours to minors etc.
How can you guys celebrate a Happy New Year ? Such hippocrates.

alfred i read somewhere that the word hippocrate was used in the middle ages to describe some one of a religion who did not practice what they preached, only used in a religous context.
lots of rc's live by the 10 commandments or try to and paedo is abhorrant to them.
Happy New Year folks.
Time to get religious and introduce you all to the 'Obby 'Oss. I have a commemorative coffee mug of the 'Oss and recently stared at the outrageous beast and wondered 'wtf is that?':
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/'Obby_'Oss_festival
-cut and paste that one-
It seems that on one day of the year the whole town stops and two town members dress up as the Old 'Obby 'Oss and the Blue Ribbon 'Oss, then they parade around the town accompanied by music and attempt to grab the local young maidens and steal them under their costume as they go. They meet up, songs are sung, and the ceremony concludes at the May Pole. Fertility and all that, but it may be similar to the Union of Opposites I've learned about - this is from a much older European spirituality, before Christianity. Online picture searches reveal some beautiful art, and lead toward things like the green man, which I don't know much about.
It seems to be a thing of the West Country and indeed throughout Europe, eg the Tarasque in France. Weird af, but I bet being part of the day is a blast.
Gold ;)
A Sunday sermon for floptimist ;)
- after all, it takes someone pretty special to be courageous and open enough to share facts with actual accuracy and logic.
I wonder if ‘the chosen’ could also refer to the the victims of the church…
It’s quite a list - in a historical context there may not have been nor will there be another institution guilty of such industrial scale genocide, rape and thievery…
Perhaps something worth looking into ;)

Christopher Hitchens on point there.
Well AW, I’d love to make up a wonderful story about how god gifted me the appearance of saint christopher ;)
However… the truth is a mate of mine that teaches religious studies is tying this vid (and others) into some stuff for his students when school returns.
He sent it thru - good to see that actual knowledge is still available so the kids and young adults of today can be properly informed and choose to make up their own minds bout atleast some things ;)
And yes andy-mac.
Hard to ignore ;)
What’s that saying ?….

Lands a punch or two, does Mr Hitchens. I’m not a huge fan of his, but not because he’s wrong in any sense.
Could add in there for things to apologise for; harbouring paedophiles, protecting them from the law of the land, shifting them around from parish to parish to spread their vile disorder, not giving a shit about it, making up legal arguments why ‘The Church’ isn’t a legal body and why it doesn’t have to pay recompense for the evil they have spread.
I’ve generally avoided commentary on George Pell. There aren’t many people who will got to hell and stink the place up, but if it exists then he is surely there, and just as surely everyone else is complaining about the foul stench that came with him.
So much to apologise for.

The Catholic Church is not the Christian church….it’s something altogether different….a mix of pagan ritual and Christian belief….a powerful beast and the great whore in scripture…if you knew your history you would know they have persecuted Christian’s who won’t bow down to their pope and his disgusting institution.
Optimist what do you consider to be the Christian church? Eastern Christianity and the Orthodox church etc?
GSCO Watch “the chosen” season 1, 2 and 3 ( once you start there’s no stop) by Angel studios…it’s free then ask me…it’s very good and just like reading the text….and I’ll answer any question you want….PS I’m just a useless human like everyone else full of faults and battling my way through a fallen world…. God Bless ya.
So Opti, while gorgeous George did his thing was the big fella in sky a bit too busy or distracted to intervene?
https://theaimn.com/george-pell-devil-incarnate-is-dead/
Surely what you term a "disgusting institution" sullying his good message and causing harm in his name would be enough to stir him up for a bit of very active intervention on earth to set things right?
Is the apparent overwhelming trait of passivity in the face of evil and sorrow so great and good - worth worshipping?
If you ever want to see how relevant religion is in today's modern world have a read of "My War Gone By, I Miss It So" by Anthony Loyd. Throw some Orthodox Christian Serbs, Muslim Bosniaks and Catholic Croats into the mix and see how that turned out for the local flocks of religious congregations. Religion is ignorance and intolerance at it's finest.
Thank god for the real George ;)

If they got the first testament wrong where did they get the second one from?
Here you go optimist
Not sure my motivation...my instinctive need to stick up for the underdog...my secret desire to be one day honoured rightfully with the role of Forum moderator (expecting a call any day)...
But anyway I couldn't help but read your troubles on another thread...unfortunately I found myself siding with everyone's posts...other than your own...except for the part where you were told you can't post here!
So I put my low IQ mind to coming up with a solution that suits all...and here it is...a safe place if you like
You can post anything you like about your beliefs...and no one has to read it unless they want! Easy peasy...
maybe you could even get Jesus, fat Buddha, Mohammed, and friends to converse in adult conversation here
Solving the world problems, one at a time...call it taking a shovel as a way of moving that mountain
All the best...brother
PS...I actually was born again once, but I grew up, and grew a brain of my own...and realised it was all a load of shit!
