The joys of a first past the post system, SNP looking like losing nearly 40 seats with a 1.5% swing against. DUP, PC ( Welsh Nationalist) all down slightly. No move to the nation state here. Conservatives had a 20% swing against, most went to Farage's Reform (14%) yet only win 4 seats, same as the Greens. Big numbers for Labor, gain of 214 seats but only a small swing in terms of overall numbers. Low turn out as well.
Think the main point is Labor’s historically low vote percentage for a seat majority winning party. And the Reform vote being high but spread out. More votes than the Lib Dems who got seventy one seats to Reform’s four. Can’t see the Reform vote going back to Tories. Some sort of move has occurred in the UK.

The vagaries of first past the post and low turnout have lead to a lopsided result, hardly reflective of the number of votes. Reform picked up most of the swing against the Tories, a significant proportion of whom were no doubt disaffected Labour voters who wanted to leave the EU, hence the big Boris majority. Which evaporated due to incompetence. Latest polls suggest a majority want to rejoin. It goes in cycles.
Labour will be forced into forming a shaky coalition - next time, time after - despite FPTP. With the Lib Dems? The SNP, Greens? Even the decrepit remains of the Tories? To ‘faire barrage’. A ragtag bunch of Corbinistas in there too?

They collected heaps of Wood and wood stuff , that had no use .
Lots of small logs , as well .
A Company was formed and the White Manager , had been with them for 30 years .
He was the only white person working , making Charcoal ( Pure Carbon ( bad stuff , not CO2 , burnt out ) , by the tonnes , to sell in Europe , the premium BBQ market , apparently .
They had about a dozen HUGE Kiln's .
Lovely simple designs , used 4 centuries , with holes everywhere , to regulate airflows .
They stack the kiln with tonnes of wood , which has harmful pollution stuff , that comes out , if burnt normally .
After lighting a kiln , a huge Blume of Smokey Gases ( the bad wood stuff ) starts pouring from holes in it's roof .
After an hour the kiln gets hot enough ( 300*C?) and they close the holes , trapping the bad stuff in and letting the Carbon Producing Process , goes for days , happen .
Stuff does start coming out of its chimney , eventually .
They called it Cleaner ? , but it looked really hot .
The whole process took about 10 days , with shovelling out Carbon and bagging it , the difficult part .
Masks were worn :) .
Carbon burns really well , without all the bad Stuff in wood !!!
Great for cooking things .
That's good for humans ,
The biggest chunks are the valuable pieces , European BBQ Stuff .
The smallest carbon pieces are crushed into a power , mixed with water and maize starch , stirred up and made into briquettes .
These guy's get cooked again , heated by coal , coming out as Premium Charcoal Bricks ( 5 tonnes per day ) .
This process has been done for thousands of years .
It made this Group ( no idea who ) have employment and a business .
No idea about how much CO2 this process created ( they get 4 tonnes of Carbon for 10 tonnes of wood , I think ) .
I do think it is a clever way to burn out the shitty stuff in wood and make an efficient energy source , for people !
Saw nothing about who owns what or who get's the money from the business .
Also nothing about where the "Useless " wood came from .

Base, i was having lunch with my younger sis last month, in SF. We were just having a day of reminiscing, going back to old spots. There's an urban lake in town called Lake Merced. We drove round it for old time's sake and all the on-street parking surrounding it were taken up by what i guess you guys call "caravans" and i call "RVs" (i think that's right?). All homeless. Vans (whatev we'll call em) mostly in disrepair, alot looked like they'd be hard pressed to move without the tow truck.
My sis told me that they are allowed to stay there and be on food stamps, all on our taxed backs.
Those people, the ones on the margins, are the population i serve, here at hospital. So, i feel differently about them than my sis. And i didn't wanna ruin the day. So i said nothing.
It's alot of fun watching a homeless population grow around you. (not)
Not so different here Wax. Technicality, a RV is different from a caravan, the latter need to be towed by a vehicle, no engine. We have plenty of the former, usually refitted commercial vans. Lots of people living in both as cost of home ownership and rental has skyrocketed.

Been fun doing this over the weekend, have quite a few old computers around the house as never bothered to trade/throw them out and it's great to see the old dog light up with a new operating system, which you can keep in your pocket.
