Hi Indo.
So the haters are always going to hate; poor old Scomo and Trump, my heart bleeds.
Do you believe the right have been vaccinated against hateful comment???? I can clearly recall that lovely man Tony Abbott, flanked by Bronwyn Bishop and Sophie Mirabella, standing under signs referring to Julia Gillard as "Bob Browns Bitch" and "Juliar" and who can forget "Ditch The Witch". Classy stuff. Insulted on a near daily basis by fine upstanding members of the Right during her time as PM.
Then you had turds like Alan Jones saying Gillard should be put in a sack and thrown into the sea, and that her father died of shame. Others such as Ray Hadley and Andrew Bolt also joined in the fun. Another fine upstanding bunch of people there on the right.
Please excuse me but I wouldn't piss on Jones etc if they were on fire.
As for Abbott, he is the reason politics in this country has become dysfunctional. He did everything he could to frustrate and obstruct the government; and we're all paying for it now.
I can recall Gillards "Mysogyny Speech": Abbott sat with his back to her the whole time laughing and smirking with his Front Bench mates. Could not even muster the courage to look her in the eye. Gutless Prick is the term that comes to mind.
Here's a short video of our brave Japanese "fishermen".
This really is a disgrace to humanity.
While i don't entirely agree with your side of politics Salty, you're spot on regards Abbot and that Peta Credlin is an awful person.
Sophie Mirabella- what a see you en tea of a woman that one is. I wonder if she actually has blood in those veins?
The thing I don't get is the way defenders of Morrison turn a blind eye to all the shitfuckery they get up to to be elected and to stay in office. Politically speaking the right was once the most strident defenders of the legal system, of convention, of ethical behaviour. I'm not saying the left are innocent here but what has gone down over the last decade as "acceptable" behaviour from the right is and has been appalling.
It's one thing to have political views favouring one side or the other but to turn a blind eye to clear as day questions of what is right and what is wrong is unforgivable.
For me that is the worrying thing, if the current lies, appalling behaviour and out right corruption from the right is now acceptable behaviour and therefore "normal" what will follow? ......... and oddly, I believe it suits the new far right agenda(s) to trash democracy and its processes/pillars ...... the old divide and rule approach.
GS I think part of the reason for acceptance of Somko and his inept corrupted government is the fear created around any sort of alternative.
ID continually throwing out the hate label is perfectly on par with any commentary from the protectors of governance by corporate interests.
Any criticism is labeled hate in an attempt to shut down critique.
When your message in a continuum of venom, vitriol and hate to ease the conscience a need to label those opposed to you of your own behavior is required.
The hate message has been very effective with the peasants electing those that act against their very own interests.
To be fair half the people here whinging would be whinging no matter who is in power, they always think they know best, always think they have the answers, maybe it's just human nature, does get boring though.
You’re the Jim Molan of the swellnet forums ID. At least you’re consistent.
"they always think they know best, always think they have the answers, "
Sounds like the LNP!!!!
Looking back at history the LNP sail along nicely until there is a crisis of sorts then the wheels fall off rapidly. Which is what you're seeing now.
Menzies lost government in 1942 because he was basically hopeless and it was left to the ALP through Curtin and Chifley to see us through WW2 and the post war expansion.
Menzies only won government in 1949 because Chifley wanted to Nationalise the banks, which given a recent events, was probably a good idea. For the next 20 odd years a drovers dog could have run the country and LP kept on with the "reds under the bed line" which was typical RW bullshit but it worked and they held government. Meanwhile Unions worked to get workers a better deal and finally the ALP won government in 1972 only to be greeted with a doubling of oil prices courtesy of the Arabs, which of course stuffed up the economy, but it was all Whitlams fault (the ALP had a few issues though) according to the Libs. You probably know the rest Fraser Hawke etc.
Just one observation over my working life: Worked with a lot of people who detested the unions with a passion but not enough not knock back any union won pay rises. You can jettison your principals when convenient.
Also after putting a dollar in the pocket of the working man quite a few I suspect saw themselves as "two bob millionaires" and tended to associate with the party representing the rich. Of course, in recent times the ALP seem to have lost their way.
In light of recent and upcoming events the last election was probably a good one to lose.
Cheers.
I Focus hit the nail right on the head. The reason I support this Government is that I am terrified of any of the current alternatives. I'm not right wing or left...I'm just wingin' it.
I think the U.S. is in the same boat.
Maybe read his post again Optimist...?...you surely can't agree with that bull shit???
He is basically calling you a peasant (fool) for voting for LNP because in his eyes they don't do anything good for the country, they just look after big business.
Basically saying you are clueless and you are agreeing with him?
It's the same old same old BS, apparently it's the people against big business, IMHO that whole view is just so naive it's the kind of shit you think when you are just out of school.
Yeah government looks after big business, because it's in the interest of the people to do so, it gives people jobs and helps drive a health economy. (its the whole reason both Liberal, Labor state and federal support Adani)
But yeah Optimist if you voted LNP out of fear of what could happen if you voted in ALP i get that as do most Australians, not so much because of the party but because of the polices they put forward and because of the leader at that time (honestly forgot his name)
"He is basically calling you a fool...Basically saying you are clueless and you are agreeing with him?"
Which makes sense to me.
Just the first two lines Indo, dunno about the corrupt bit though ...The rest.....Yawn.
Hmm still surprised you agreed with even that, i don't think anything LNP did created real fear, IMHO ALP themselves created uncertainty for themselves with just the policy they put forward and lack of explanation and costings etc.
It was fully their's too loose, and they have no one at all to blame than themselves.
All I want is the best Govt available for our country on the day. Good and bad leaders come and go and its up to us to discern and try and steer the better ones at their job in the direction that best helps the people. For me, Morrison is the most switched on at present. Can he do better ?, cant we all ? The media think they know best and try to influence the people. Ive worked in the media and they are probably per capita the most bent people around and these altered state people, choose to influence the community to their point of view.
ID you need to get past the hate thing............... it's not healthy.
And this "He is basically calling you a peasant (fool)" wrong go back and learn english please.
And I don't think anyone here is a fool no matter who they voted for...... that would be .........well foolish not knowing their circumstances.
Still it needs an explanation why people vote against their own interests and why they may think Smoko is great.
Most people vote for what's in it for them and their families, most people want a healthy economy, jobs, low tax's etc and then a bit of a balance of the other things.
Australia now holds the longest period of continuous growth of any developed country about 28 years of growth (29 years in November)
7 of those years have been under Labor 21 under Liberals.
So how exactly are they voting against their own interest?
Even though I'm a supporter of Scomo I'm not even sure that most people who voted for Scomo voted for him as such, i think it was more they just didn't want to vote for Shorten because voting for him would have brought a lot of uncertainty in many different areas, this was even reflected in the Australia stock market that surged straight after Scomo won.
“So how exactly are they voting against their own interest?”
Christ we’ve been over this so many times, for years and years.
Indo
Most people vote via their hip pocket.
Scomo’s “Quiet Australians” were shit scared of losing their franking credits even if they didn’t have any or didn’t even know what they were.
And those 28 years of continuous growth were due to reforms introduced by Hawke/Keating. Stuff the LNP never had the courage to do.
Cheers
Do you people actually believe the things you write?
Its truly scary if you do.
So again, does the end justifies the means?
Scotty from Marketing is your preferred PM regardless of the lies, smashing of civil and political conventions and now emerging information of outright fraudulent use of taxpayers money to buy votes.
So it's all okay because Labor would have been much worse for me and my family.
And that's before any objective assessment of how poorly the LNP preformed during the Abbott - Turnbull years?
Is that what you're really saying here?
Oh the line about "to be fair ... blah blah". Fuck me, isn't the law the law so if some politician breaks it shouldn't he/she be held fully accountable before it? Or should we all forget it because it supports our political views like how the right fell over themselves to support that child abuser Pell?
Its also really amusing to think you lot think that Scroto is his own man? Think for a minute who owns his arse, who owned Turnbull's and Abbott's before him. Really? do you think Morrison is the captain of the ship?
The nativity is breathtaking as is the blind faith in something rotten to its core.
Overwhelming proof once again nothing will change until we have a federal ICAC to hold these cunts and their supporters fully accountable before the law.
Hear hear! @GS
Jordan Peterson. So the fella who has all the solutions to modern woes is in rehab for benzo addiction.
Had my birthday the other day, and never mind the candles on the cake, it's the number of public charlatans that get brought undone that make me feel my age - I've seen so damn many over the years.
peterson has long acknowledged his personal issues, but good of you to delight in anothers misfortune stu, while we are on the topic of moral equivalency in relation to philosophical/political position, I see yet another high-ranking alp official escaped being done for kiddy-fiddling by committing suicide last week, following the well-trodden path of at least one labor minister, what is it with the alp and this proclivity? any suggestions guy smiley? seems almost a structural issue, time for a royal commission?
Delight? Yeah maybe there's a little bit of that though it's way down on the scale and easily eclipsed by affirmation that my intuition is still on point. I know nothing about his "long acknowledged personal issues" but I sensed enough to think many of his views on social behaviour were unevolved shams; that he's covering up for personal weakness. Seen it too many times before.
Hi Stu,
Saw Petersen on Q&A and he struck me as a bit full of himself: and a few chemicals as it appears.
Ironic that this campaigner against the left, amongst other things, is undergoing rehab in Russia.
I hope he recovers and wakes up to himself.
LL, yet the law do its job whatever the crime, whoever it is.
Stu, I too had a birthday the other day and thing that makes me feel my age is that we are still having the arguments about the environment that I became involved in during my youth, after the gold rush.
Scott Morro seems to be doing a good job with his flu fence. Funny though, the Chinese students that have been denied entry from the Aus Govt could do their Uni online but the Chinese Govt internet firewall blocks them from being able to access study..And the Chinese Govt is whinging at ours about their students. Arrogant wankers it seems.
I wonder how they will practically achieve this, given the preponderance of VPNs, sites being hosted offshore, onion routers like Tor?
For example, the great citizen journalism that has been coming out of Wuhan - I'm sure the CCP doesn't want this, yet people have been perservering via proxies to get entire yt vids out. Citizens themselves have been talking in code, and getting past filters on the main Chinese social media, too.
If yt goes down there will be other services, eg bitchute. The internet is the great leveller. If a person disagrees with their social platform enforcing censorship, there are alternatives to move to. Alternatives that are hosted in other jurisdictions and are accessed via many pathways. Further, they won't be able to stop quickly organised insurrection-via-mobile phone, as the Yellow Vest protests showed.
The internet of the 90's was a pretty wild and wonderful thing, true free speech of the message boards (you could interact with some very random people) that catered to almost any interest. Like I've said before, Stu will one day have a decision to make on what can get posted, and there may be leaning on from above. In the meantime, there's a diversity of views, and it's like the message boards of the early net.
Wouldn't Coronavirus automatically fall into a federal issue?
(Maybe under border control, quarantine etc)
While fires and natural disasters start off as a state issue, until the state request additional help from the government .
So not really comparable.
"and they are shown to be completely lacking in the essential leadership and skills required to fill their job description"
Spot on Blowin. They sure showed their lack of skills this bushfire season. Fancy visting Kangaroo Island and opening your big gob up about how nobody had died. I think that was the most telling fuckup of his whole sorry attempt at being a leader in a time of need.
I wonder how long til Sco Mo Ron is sacked by his own party?
Indo's right, the fires were a state issue and for the Feds to intervene before time would cause chaos so Scott cant be blamed for that...BUT...2 years ago when the States asked for extra money from the Turnbull Govt for extra fire fighting resources, that should have happened considering the conditions and since that day it should have been addressed by whoever was running the show...hindsight can be brutal.
Shezzas Blowin feeling a bromance is on the cards if you keep talking like that.
ID certainly early stages the fire issue was a states issue but in Nov 19 it was clear that federal government involvement was required well before Somko went on the family hols in fact he was asked repeatedly at the time. That's the same time the Coalition were pushing to attack firefighter and nurses unions to score points off Labor.
What's staggering is that Smoko would be 1st Australian political leader to past up a disaster to look like a hero then end up turning it into a political train wreck.
I Focus
Not sure exactly what date government got involved, but by the 9th November
"On Monday, the Morrison government directed ADF Chief Angus Campbell to give all military base commanders the authority to use local Defence assets and resources to respond to any local firefighting and clean-up efforts."

Anyway point remains one is a state issue, one is a federal issue.
Afraid there is no defense ID been around this mulberry bush already

None of those articles prove anything, they are just opinion pieces that don't even mention what was done, which im sure you also have no idea of either as you proved above, and has been the whole problem in all this, It's all just media bet up instead and selling papers or clicks these days, and people like you lap it up because it suits your political views.
If you are going to make a proper assessment you need to see what was done, where it went from a state to federal issue, and then relook at things and see what could have been done better, but need to be realistic on what is actually possible.
Like Optimist basically said blame the government for lack of preparation 100% they are guilty of that, they we warned and it was pretty obvious that after a bad drought the fire risk was much higher.
Problem with the issue was people want to use it as a climate change issue and start blaming Australia 1.3% emissions as the Greens leader did very early in the fires, this muddied the issue an unfair put a negative spin on the government.
Scomo technically didn't do anything wrong going on holidays, but 100% it was a silly move because it was obvious it would be used by the media against him, when he should have been using the media to make himself look good, he should have taken a few leafs out of NZ PM's book, she is great at using the media instead of getting used by the media, does nothing but plays the media and public and literally gets away with murder doing so.
Then when he realised the media were playing him, he started trying to play the media game but was always going to be behind the eight ball, the media had already decided their angle, so all they did is follow his every move and wait for any screw ups which he did as lets face it he is a bit goofy and not great one on one with public.
Personally in this day and age i dont know how they could leave themselves open to all the things, if i was their political team i would have ensured much more controlled environments and that he was drilled on the situation, statts etc before going into an area like Kangaroo island.
To me it's weird that at such a high level they can allow themselves to get played over by the media, surely they must have a team that just looks at different angles media might take or react and also look at ways they can exploit the media themselves.
Basically Scomo needs to start using the media instead of getting used by the media, end of the day it doesn't matter what you do or what you don't do, its what the media report and what spin they put on things.
Have it cunts
