Following on from the design discussion during the Jaws webby, specifically fin position on guns, check this photo from the yesterday's Eddie ceremony.
At left is Trevor Sven Carlson's black and white gun, which has a Thruster set but the front fins are a long way up the board. Same with the red gun at front centre running a quad set.
Compared to times past, the fin clusters are set way up the board, presumedly to increase manouvreability. Lack of drive is likely not a concern when the board is designed for 30ft+ and there'll always be speed to burn.
