Bad year to be a drummer.
Much too young.
Yep very sad. The Specials and other bands from that era are sound track to my life. Punk, Ska not dead.... RIP
Gutted.

Great comments BTL.
Great send off from the crew...continues...
Horrific Incident damned Terry's start in life...so sad...
Aged 14 joined the Punks
1977 Terry formed Punk Band > The Squad
1979 Ska Bands Coventry Automatics (Renamed) The Specials
Goldie Punk / Ska ... Favs
New wave track by The Colourfield (Self Titled) is equally as brilliant as Echo & the Bunnymen.
Read the excellent comments...all are blown away by the quality of this New Wave track.
Comment > re: The master Ian Broudie worked with both bands...(Waverz hear that!)
Any wanna hear more of Broudie's magic (re: 1992 Lightning Seeds LP "Sense" *****)
From Punk > Ska > New Wave > Smooth Retro Rock...every time, Terry brings it better! Salute!
Terry tributes an all time dream track from another brilliant producer!
2014 (Encore) Check this performance...man, is that Gold... Just keeps getting better..Right!
Hodads needed a little extra time to send off Christine McVie {R.I.P}
Open your Eyes and Look at the day.
You'll see things in a different way.
Indeed tbb did exactly that!
Christine quit lead role in Chicken Shack to join her husband's band as they often toured together!
Inevitable that Christine would sooner or later lead Fleetwood Mac!
All the best breakthru songwriting & Tunes revolved around Christine's cue!
Don't Stop > Hold Me > Lies were all super solid bankable tunes that kept the band relevant.
Each one Christine wrote & composed on Piano...
She'd bounce off ex partner then the rest simply look to follow her lead.
No doubt she is driving the bands progressive sound.
Can easily see & hear these songs as Christine's solo Piano Tunes orchestrating her backing band.
The band even agreed to follow Christine's winning breakthru formula as it won over new fans.
Here's the 3 top notch breakthru songs that kept the band together.
Hidden talent goes unrecognised as driver of the Band's success in reinventing itself
That's a pretty special talent to consistently compose relevant quality tunes during new wave era.
Reckon fans will note & reward her solo talents...took tbb a while to see things in a different way!
swellnet Drum Circle farewell Jet Black...drummer for The Stranglers
Goldie punk drummer salutes fellow crew for send off of Punk Pioneer.
Old Punk Rocker past away aged 84.
Jet Black experimented with drum styles but it's often hard to get footage of Drummers.
These vidz were selected to Feature Jet Black doing what he & we love so much...
Drummer tbb & others here may have seen The Stranglers...
Best to bring a fair rendition of that Live sound to his send off.
Plenty of different drum sounds...all brilliant...Vale Jet Black.
First up is a pretty good send off by Irish News Paper as Jet Black's Dad was Irish.

He sure did, RIP

{R.I.P} Renee Geyer
tbb is gonna tour away from trad Blues tribute for our Oz Wild Soul Sister.
Country Road...Renee's slow soulful groove...Peace Babe!
1981 So Lucky LP (Reworked covers of male artists...Renee expands her range!)
I Can Feel the Fire...(Ron Wood 1974) "Reggae / Calipso"
Bit of an eccentric song to cover...but it slots into the 1981/82 Reggae / Ska soundscape.
There is a good write-up with a recent upload of Renee's New Wave track from same LP.
Apparently "Good Lovin!" was written by Renee & her Band that make a good combo.
tbb agrees with dave...should've been the lead track & smash single not Side 2 Track 2.
Label made a really really poor choice here.
This almost unheard of...upbeat track was bang on target alongside strong sister's new wave beat.
That's exactly right crew...know wot yer gonna think!
10 years later Kiwi Jenny Morris bossed Oz charts with this exact same groove.
tbb alludes to Renee being ahead of her time...here's another example.
This track transcends time > Simply perfect fit for Today's Funky Dance sisters..
Oddly another recent upload from way back when...Oldschool Respect!
1975 Really Really Love You...way way ahead of it's time...Oz soul sister's Star Power shines on & on...*
Sad day, David Crosby, one of the greats who was still touring still letting his freak flag fly
https://m.

RIP David Cosby.

GuySmiley +1 Freaked out track...
This song was banned for flying higher than the Radio Waves...
It was ruled well over head & outta bounds in many US states.
Thanks guys great tracks

What a nauseating article.
When a lifetime struggle with mental illness is repackaged as "quirky" and "mystique laden".
With due respect, don't you think it's more nuanced than that? That he was both "quirky" and "mystique laden" and struggled with mental illness?
It would reductionist ad absurdum to say "Oh yeah, Pat Curren. He struggled with mental illness..." and let that be the final words about the man?
Why do so many great artists take this path ? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-01-21/david-crosby-death-the-byrds-cros...

Hi I.B., maybe in hindsight I was a bit harsh.
The article does mention his "tortured" soul and issues with alcohol so maybe there's some nuance there.
I realise it's preferable to be kind to the departed but I do have reservations about Pat Curren being "the coolest of the cool" and a "hero" for putting surfing first when most likely it was all that he could manage.
At the end of the day, it was a quick and basic article and l look forward to something with a bit more depth at some stage.
Maybe how David Rensin's book on Dora gave much greater depth to the Dora myth (Rensin mentioned the "fetishisation of a flawed soul") but I certainly don't put Pat Curren and Miki Dora anywhere near the same category.
Cheers mate, hope you're paddling into some good'uns.
Haha, it's a fucken surf media eulogy, Dr Freud. Got some 'deep' analysis about your man Crosby while you're at it? Friggin' bemoaning idiot.
Sheesh. There's a time and place at the very least.
Maybe Beach Grit?!
Anyway, a tale well told.

I do know what you mean, and nobody wants bloody Sam G hagiography. There just seems to be a strong tendency (urge, even?) these days to tear everyone and their dog off their pedestals - often literally.
I'm sure Pat C was both a shit dad and a good dad, but he was definitely no saint. Total hedonism never seems to breed the most whole people, aye. For a Seppo, though, he was interesting for not talking loudly and often and about himself, and he was definitely a thinker and a superb craftsman.
It was not a grumpy response (hard to tell on the internet), and thank you for your thoughtful one.
Waves? 2ft the last two weeks, and sharing them with a bunch of foilers. But at least it's clean and I get to sit on the outside peak. But yeah, not 4-5ft Point.
Cheers

Glad to hear that.
Vale 70's Punk Pioneer Tom Verlaine... tribute continues...
Tom's first band...Neon Boys (Also with Richard Hell)
Television's ... 'Double Exposure' ... mix by Eno.
Kinda sounds well ahead of early '70's Punk & more like 90's Punk?
Comments also pick up on this prog solid sound...(But only on this recording!)
Quote : "Bands that sound like Eno Bands" = #1 Dandy Warhols
Quote : "B. Eno to Beano to Dandy to Dandy Warhols"
Television's Early 70's (Eno solid Punk mix) resonates in these 90's Bohemian Punks.

Guy Smiley's ~ Raquel {RIP} tribute continues...
Back checking that Bikini model Raquel often waded in shorebreaks.
That's unusual both then & now...not too many models are up for that level of commitment.
