Northern Territory pumping
and strong offshores for the south side of elcho?! Nhulunbuy would be blown to helll... would love to see photo's of good surf in that area. I surfed a cyclone swell in Darwin years ago... windy rubbishy three foot in warm soupy water with crocs, box jellies, tigers and bulls. Bout 20 guys out from memory. fun stuff, worth the novelty.
Amazing part of Australia.
Viewed a few good set ups around Nhulunbuy , which apparently get good on East swells from the Gulf.
There are probably hundreds, if your that keen!
Hope you get some Big Kev;)
It wasn't Blowin.
It wasn't me either.
Udo will investigate that!
Udo.
Welly it was you !
@ Wellymonster put 'the new website ' into the search function .
Not a place your going to go on a surfing holiday, but a guy i know lives up there and where he lives (super remote) there is a stretch that gets quite regular surf produced from trade winds, you would expect it to be pretty much slop, but some of pics he has the waves are a good size look pretty fun even semi hollow reefs set ups.
Just saw footage on the news of Gove going off!! pumping beachies as far as the camera could see! looked about 4/5ft A frames!!even me missus went fark its pumpin!!
Geez, sounds like I might have to go check out the homeland.
Nice to know that I'm thought of as the kind of guy that could be responsible for the levels of bastardry that only someone like Welly is capable of.
So now my eyes are all red and puffy and I'm out of tissues. I hope you're happy.

Haha hang on fellas!
Quote Wellymon from "The new website" - "Pretty funny with the surf forecast up in Nulunbuy, Gove, worked up there and went looking for waves once. Pretty full on place to surf, crocs, box jellies etc, but does get waves."
Thats not copped a bit of shit.....?
I actually remember someone going off about it on another thread, but I can't find it.
I'll take it on the chin then, at least I stuck up for ya Blowin;)
Udo your investigation was inconclusive. I really had faith in you!
Cheers Welly. My kiwi mate taking one in the neck for his Aussie cobber. The ANZAC legend lives on.
Not that it was me Stu. But it easily could have been.
Any chance you could email me a link so I can cringe at past indiscretions privately Stu ?
This wasn't the thread was it Stu?
Didn't cop much shit, just a cpl of inquiries.

Would love to see some pics of some of these waves.
I remember years ago (maybe 15 odd), Tracks ran a picture of a pumping A frame somewhere near Darwin. Not sure I'd be keen with the big Salties out there.
Yeah i remember that. Might have been barley?.
Riptide ran a section most issues of surf spots around oz, details about a differentspot each month. One was ran on a darwin reef called marcupials (spelling?). Looked fun like little av style.
Don't go stealing my thunder Groundswell. I pride myself on my petty spitefulness.
Watched a clip getting apround years ago of Steve Erwin surfing up that way in city Brown water wearing his signature clothes, good looking waves, and he could surf

Thanks. That's certainly a lot of evidence...none of which makes me want to pull a strike mission. Not least the surfing croc
Not long after Swellnet switched over to our new wave model we copped a bit of shit for having data points in the Northern Territory. Can't remember who it was that stuck it to us but in hindsight it was the kinda thing Blowin would say, so, short of a positive recollection I'll just blame him.
Anyway, 18 months later and what do we have? A cyclone at the top of the gulf, whirling like a dervish and getting all those NT surfers primed.
"Usually we don't get in the water here, but when it's like this you've got to make the most of it," local Gove Peninsula surfer Kevin Vernacombe told SBS News yesterday. And although SBS didn't mention Swellnet's handy NT forecast I've no doubt that's what Kev was checking before hitting the croc-infested waters.
"It's really very dangerous," bastard killjoy ranger Paul Augustin said. Along with the crocs, "there could be flying debris and all sorts. We strongly advise people to stay at home."
For those curious TC Lam is now Cat 3 and forecast to deliver 6-8 foot surf to Elcho Island this afternoon, and clearly that's the sort of shit that gets Big Kev excited.
You can check all the Territory data points here.
