The joys of a first past the post system, SNP looking like losing nearly 40 seats with a 1.5% swing against. DUP, PC ( Welsh Nationalist) all down slightly. No move to the nation state here. Conservatives had a 20% swing against, most went to Farage's Reform (14%) yet only win 4 seats, same as the Greens. Big numbers for Labor, gain of 214 seats but only a small swing in terms of overall numbers. Low turn out as well.

Think the main point is Labor’s historically low vote percentage for a seat majority winning party. And the Reform vote being high but spread out. More votes than the Lib Dems who got seventy one seats to Reform’s four. Can’t see the Reform vote going back to Tories. Some sort of move has occurred in the UK.
Speaking of the UK’s voting system.
Doesn’t do to pay too much mind to these things - ie Hillary beating the Donald on the primary vote in the ‘16 election and forever claiming she was the legitimate winner.
Shoulda gone to Wisconsin, ventured out into the sugarcane fields in rural PA and spoken to the deplorables instead of hobnobbing with Béyoncé and co. in Philly.
Campaign according to the system.
But it is interesting to note that if France had the same first past the post voting system as the UK, le Pen’s RN would’ve won an outright parliamentary majority on the votes cast during the first round.
It would seem more joyous is a convoluted first past the post system held over two rounds.
All meaningless enough, but with the other parties aligning against the RN in order to manipulate the results of the second round - might add some extra fuel to the fire when the inevitable riots flare up after the count on Sunday.

You are a funny cat Roker. If we don't pay attention to actual votes, actual results, what do we pay attention to?

Next time around, when the Red Wall’s looking more like the ruins of Hadrian’s Wall, the disaffected Labour voters will find refuge with Reform.

Good joke but sorry champ, no populist-right revolution this time. Maybe next time? You seem to have missed the point in your fervour. The vagaries of first past the post and low turnout have lead to a lopsided result, hardly reflective of the number of votes. Reform picked up most of the swing against the Tories, a significant proportion of whom were no doubt disaffected Labour voters who wanted to leave the EU, hence the big Boris majority. Which evaporated due to incompetence. Latest polls suggest a majority want to rejoin. It goes in cycles.

Labour will be forced into forming a shaky coalition - next time, time after - despite FPTP. With the Lib Dems? The SNP, Greens? Even the decrepit remains of the Tories? To ‘faire barrage’. A ragtag bunch of Corbinistas in there too?
Fractured legislatures and unstable coalitions will be a feature of European parliaments prior to the nationalists gaining supremacy.
Watch how the French Assembly ends up tomorrow. With its FPTP voting system.

Must admit - I prefer the millinery sported by Count Binface and Nick the Flying Brick from the Monster Raving Loony Party in comparison to the crook casquette sported by Marine’s mademoiselle in that article.
Marine has a bit more ‘dédiabolisation’ to do. The devil’s work is never done.
The famous sense of humour will be the saviour of the Brits.
