I heart WOTD

Was thinking the same.
He takes some great photos but does he pay to get his shots run more often than not?
Are there no up and coming photographers that are submitting photos?
I’ve mentioned it before but I think WOTD could be a great platform for unknown photog’s to showcase their work.
As someone who has daily dirty-deeds, I can only imagine the fatigue of 365 daily photo postings that are also the face of your company. Is there a thread for amateurs that you have seen @goofyfoot? I'm sure the crew would happily mine such a thread..
A mate of mine has had probably 10 or more WOTDs run over the years.
He’s an amateur photog.
Basesix yeah there’s a photo thread.
It’s more of a thread for all types of photos. Landscape, dogs, gardens etc not just waves/surfers from memory
Do it @goofy! Got any swell snaps to start the ball rolling?
basesix wrote:Do it @goofy! Got any swell snaps to start the ball rolling?
Nope! Haha, I’m no photographer.

Yeah, it's the least of all the things I do, however it's the very first thing I do each day and it's also one of the most prominent things on the site.
Hard not to fall into the same patterns (read: cliches) regarding captions, and I sometimes don't give the images as much thought as I should.

I reckon you do alright Stu. The images are always good, the captions often great.
Yup. No disrespect Stu. Just thought along the same lines as Goofy.
Though, out of curiosity, how would the old iPhone photo quality play out on the website?
Captions never in doubt.. today no exception
Ha...cheers GF.
And cheerio to you too, Blackers.
@NB, old iPhones lack quality especially compared to, say, new Pixel phones. May work for some types of images, thinking long range shots taken with lots of light. Gonna struggle with anything in low light or with action.
Today's/yesterday's wotd...everytime i see it, it gets more insane. Great photo Richsrd Wagner. And to the rider, that's gotta be up there in waves of a lifetime. What a rogue beauty.
Was a real ride of the valkyries, hey?
Nice singular reminder of the importance of (maintaining) range of movement.
If I could go back 15-20yrs and give my younger self one surfing tip, it would probably be "be more intentional about stretching".

Yep, and FWIW there was another shot in the sequence (not used as his face wasn't visible) but it showed Ari's body in a more contorted and integrated pose - upper torso balanced by lower body mechanics. Only accessible through youth or a dedicated regime of movement.
The German who can’t paddle!
According to C. Fletcher
Whack!! What a turn!!!!
Great pic...
That’s not a rooster tail.
That’s a peacock.
Unbelievable shot of an unbelievable turn.
Epic shot, solid turn on a solid wave.

Shit yeah
Fuck that must feel good
Seen him do plenty of those live- jeez he belts it.
Trying to think if I have ever seen a better photo of a backhand turn than that ...
I'm impressed Shieldsy managed to zoom out just enough to frame the rooster tail in its entirety.
Just noticed his track (through the curtain). Reckon that's a two stage turn? Can't quite tell.
Just saw it too, this is an all time shot.. I've always liked Connor's surfing

Interesting observation, looks like it.
Sticking it with the right forehand fingers spread like a gecko.
Great 'snapshot'.
interesting swapsies today, @stu
Not me Basesix, I'm just arising after a two day feverdream.
Four-fifths of the family copped it, the house has been as quiet as a morgue, except when the healthy fifth was binge-watching manga and no-one had the energy to tell him to turn it down.
Thank Craig did WOTDs.
Mental pic of Mavs.
Watched some of it live that night. Incredible swell.
Some pretty amazing vids coming out from the whole Cali coast. 24ft @20secs.
Hope you and the family are feeling a bit better Stu.
Another storm and possibly bigger waves hitting soon they said
seaslug wrote:Another storm and possibly bigger waves hitting soon they said
Bigger!!?? Wow!!
Hope you're keeping well @seaslug.
Great shot, love that tiny window in the wall.
I've got a fair idea of where too.
I am, thanks SR, all the best for the NY and to all the rest of you swellnutians
"SHOULDA SEEN STEVE'S JEWIE, TIM, IT WAS MASSIVE..!"
"UMM.. MAYBE TELL ME ABOUT IT AFTER, MATE!"
Today's WOTD I haven't surfed there in 30 years (or been back) but as soon as I saw the photo, immediately knew where it is. Amazing how these things are etched in the memory once you've done a reasonable amount of time in a place.
Nice turn in todays pic.
Wow great pic today Tim B.
I follow Laura on insta. She's an absolute charger and super dedicated.
Awesome wave.
I am wondering if it's Laura , that I heard been talked about at the recent Pipe event .
They talked about a woman who , somehow , paddled better than anyone else .
Is there something ( other than train ) she does that I should do .
There is the perfect swimming style , apparently ( I don't do it ) , is there a perfect paddling style ?
I am going to follow her on Insta 2 . Good tip :)
Yeah, I like that photo too.
Used to follow Laura when she was all feisty and gung-ho, but then it turned into cutesy posed photos of her bum.
I am willing to try something ( anything ) .
It's going to be too big , for me , tomorrow at. Wollies , PI , Vic , OZ .
Its going to be light easterly going SE , picking up with a sea breeze ( maybe lol ) .
No tow in's or outs at Quarra and can't walk down or up Cape Shank , again .
So , I head over towards Cat Bayishville @ and have a look around .
Sommers Creek , perhaps ( heard from a reliable source there are some banks there atm ) ?
Wondering if there is a Street name I could hit my GPS with .
Won't help probably , but won't hurt trying the GPS , again .
Like Siri , she stuffs me up a lot .
Lets go fishing .
edit
lol Just remembered I took Adam 12 and a few guys to The Shank .
Pretty big and perfect .
As it's 100 meters down and up , it has to be .
Only nearly killed , Adam 12 .
He got in my way , on a wave .
edit
Adam 12 was a kneeboarder ( we didn't call him that , back then ( pre woke ) ) so ages ago .
Thats not why I nearly ran him over , he was just in the way .
Yum
Ripper one today. Reminded me of back home. Long way from there though.
Shot Scott!
Very nice indeed.

Very Victorian looking coastline
Great pic
Love it
Yeah great shot!
The wave of the day does it for me big time. Nice work Steen Barnes , Shaun Anderson and Swellnet.
In one photo you've encompassed everything nice about surfing. If I was a wanker I'd say that it was perfect except for the fact he is in a wetsuit. Which it is , it's perfect .....except for the fact he's in a wetsuit.
