All of the so called positive logic that’s been posted regarding nuclear power is utter garbage.
How about the first thing you think about is where is the waste going to end up and then start your rationales in the other direction about how can we or can’t we.
Until someone can give me a fool proof way of disposing of radioactive material, it’s really all just a bit of hot air coming out of your mouth and with no sort of scientific logic or reasoning.
Sequestration of waste will only become societies major head ache in the future.

Dutton can't find any takers to site his Reactors, and I would guess waste disposal has not even crossed his mind.

Nuclear, as power generation method, was banned under Howard in 1998. Given the implications of burning coal, this left wind/solar/storage as the only viable options. While the ALP have gone hard to increase renewable energy, the LNP have made no real effort to promote it, and at times working against it.

Now 25 years down the track, with renewables supplying around 40% of demand, Dutton thinks its a good idea to put it on hold for 20 years, and keep the coal fired generators going (at substantial expense) while we wait for nuclear to appear in a form (SMR's), that does not exist at the required size and at an undefined cost.

Nuclear power here will never happen.

BTW, I worked in waste disposal for a few years and there are enough problems with that at the moment without bringing nuclear into the mix!!!!

I personally think it’s just so easy to say , oh well let’s go for a nuclear energy program as a solution, sounds good out of the mouth , but really, how much thought has gone into that statement, basically none.

One needs to sit and contemplate all of the components that would make up a program, from human resources to extracting uranium, who funds it, who owns it, where would it be located, what landscape , how is the uranium transported, via what routes, what towns, what’s the construction time frame, how much energy would it provide, who gets the energy, who gets the waste and where does it go ?

The mitigating circumstances are endless.

What is the lifespan of the reactor, who works at the facility, what’s the emergency plan if there is a disaster ?
Does an Australian reactor have a hypothetical target on it from unfriendly or non-alliance neighbours?

It’s just a generational cop out from an ex drug cop, who seems to be incredibly wealthy for someone who was just a public servant, I smell a rat, a dirty big bald one with bad breath from using shit toothpaste. AW

Such a simple idea. Just build the cost into the product and it's a win win. The consumer pays for the clean up and the collector gets the reward. It funded my pinball career when I was a kid.
