Never seen better than Bumrah as far as fast bowlers go @pops.
India pretty shabby without him.
Pant and Jaiswal were good.

Great result in game one of the ashes today.Don’t really follow the Big Bash but saw this and had to laugh. Great grandstand catch, automatic reaction, but then realises it’s his son getting hit out of the park. His wife’s reaction is hilarious.

That’s gotta go down in classic catches history .

Bloody good catch too. One for the grandkids to hear about.

Up the mighty Hurricanes!!
Gotta put a statue of Mitch Owens atop Mt Wellington!!

A whirlwind 50 from the head and a couplA tons, nice start. No spot for the young opener even though he is on tour.A learning experience for him.
No Pat, must be resting.SandPaper Steve gets a gig as captain.

Loving the glimpses of little lines of swell wrapping around the headland outside the cricket ground in Galle. First time i can remember seeing surf next to a major sports stadium.?
Great knocks by Uzi, Smitty and Inglis on debut.

Theres beach breaks beside Win Stadium in the Gong.
We closed in Galle at 654/6....got them 44/3 right now.We have a couple of new bowlers that I dont recognise their names .Todd Murphy/Matt kuhnemann BOTH spinners.First time I remember a test team with 3 spinners(apart from the batters who can bowl spin)When the sydneee test wicket took a lot of spin, Warney and Magilla both played..Never see 3 picked, espescially when TravisHead and SteveSmith can both spin it.As well as the new 6, he bowls medium pace and spin.

Great to see a big score from Uzi, Smithers beating his 10k hoodoo and Josh Inglis scoring a ton.
Sri Lanka now 5 fer. Great time to watch over a few beers after work.
The girls are doing a great job grinding England into the dust.

I bet Matty Hayden used to get out there and belt a few sections before belting a few boundaries.

An interesting anomaly, both the men's and women's cricket teams are one wicket away from an innings + test win. Who will be the first to tidy up their match?

me and a mate are trying to work out who's gonna finish it first. I'm calling the ladies @blackers

Reckon you maybe right there SR. Great to see spin attacks from both ends getting the wickets.

Alana King!! King by name and king by nature just like the stand she's playing in front of.

And there you have it. Well called.
Edit and the men tie it up a minute or so later.

Depending on whether or not there was a delay in the broadcast @blackers. Happy to call it a tie. Hooray Aussie Cricket!! The glory days abound. And personally, the world feels right again with Smith as captain, with absolutely no disrespect to Captain Cummins.

Great result from the Sri Lankan tests. Anyone know if those reefs behind the fort at Galle are surfable? Drone shots never swooped close enough to judge.

I was wondering the same thing MWM. Looks like a great spot to watch cricket (and surf if that's an option).

A sometime-Swellnet reader has a house on a headland a few kms down the coast and he's sent me photos of waves, both a right and left, off both sides. Great shape.

Swellnet cricket surf tour in whenever the next scheduled Aussie - Sri Lanka service is on?

transferring my deposit now @etarip.

I’m seriously considering it.
Be a great destination for family / kids too I reckon. Sub-continental ‘lite’. With waves.

It's on my to do list, have seen photos and been given recommends by friends, south and east coast worth visiting, but name waves get busy, eg Arugam Bay.

A mate of mine has been there doing just that this past week Etarip. He's staying at this spot that's 20 minutes from the cricket. He's had cyclone swell I think, so he scored there. His comment was good lefts and rights, not a world class wave but good enough for his abilities. Sounds like it's been a great trip

There looks to be a potentially sweet left at the tip of the headland when they show the drone shots. Long sweeping lines.
Can imagine this is maybe the time of year when it could potentially light up, especially with all those cyclones spawned off the oz NW coast and heading straight out to the west. Another one popping off this week in the NW. Could be a pretty hectic one for the Pilbara going by latest models. Might be worth watching the ODI on Saturday ;-)

@SD, be a good trip all round. And, happy to take fun waves in lieu of world class crowds!
@blackers - if you go soon you’ll have to put your thoughts up here. I’ll be a couple of years off. Unless I win the lotto.

Will do, @etarip. Plenty of video guides around, and it looks fun enough for an old kook like me.
