Trump opposed lockdowns because the economy was about the only selling point he had leading up to an election, and not because he gave a shit about peoples rights.
Anyway, it was up to the individual states to decide those rules, like it was here.

A timeline of Donnies statements during covid, there's some clangers in there.

It wasn’t really upto the individual states though. That’s how they made it appear.

Had lunch with the old boy yesterday, who's got a decades-long history of specialist work in the NGO sector. Instead of a line by line account of USAID expenses, the whole organisation has folded meaning USAID workers aren't waiting for a restructure, merger, or new orders; they've been told to go home. This is across projects in Africa, Asia, and Oceania.

Hopefully Trump's zealotry cools and someone explains the meaning of 'soft power' to him cos the USAID budget is a fraction - around 0.5% - of the US defence budget. With America's forward influence removed - if that's what Trump's plan is - the world will be reshaped and the only way for them to retain dominance is a surge in defence spending.

Can only hope they know what they're doing cos via AUKUS we're now locked into their outcomes.

EDIT: Was hoping the AUKUS partnership might see Oz tariffs waived but Trump has just signalled a 25% tariff on our steel and aluminium. They're not a huge importer, in 2023 they imported approx $550M, but considering we just sent a down payment of $800M to invest in American shipyards it's a bit of a slap in the face.

No he didn't say but then he's probably not close enough to the action for a definitive answer. All he knew was that USAID has currently abandoned all the projects they were involved with. No holding pattern, nor 'wait and see', just bags packed and staff have left.

Commonsense says they'll return to the projects that protect America's interests, whatever the new criteria for that is.

Don't know much about this guy, and for every video on YT telling us of China dominance, there is one saying they are about to collapse.
However, interesting how the global South seem to be joining China sphere with BRICS etc and rejecting the USA.

Cutting USAID will only speed up this process you would think, and threatening your allies is not going to help either.
Do not know if anti China stance will wash too well in Australia or Canada as both countries have pretty big Chinese diaspora.

Andy, I watched that video and I 100% agree. Asia is the future, I have no doubt about that. This is where the economic growth is. It will plateu at some stage but we are nowhere near that yet. Also, Chinese companies have no issues opening factories and facilities in other countries to avoid the tariffs. BYD is opening a factory in Szeged, Hungary which will avoid them the EU tariffs. I reckon they would have no issues doing the same in Detroit but the US is not their market at this stage. Chinese EVs will dominate the world and their domestic market is already the largest in the world. They've got no choice with such large cities, petrol cars cause an enormous amount of pollution and they need to go.

On this guy who made the video, I don't like these biased channels. He clearly just posts China good, US bad type of posts. But this video you shared is definitely correct. I go directly to the source wherever possible and I came to the same conclusions as he did. I've been following it for awhile and my next step is to start investing some money into China. That comes with certain risks and I still need to learn a lot but there are big opportunities in that market.

Cheers.

This is the main factor on why I reckon that China is not wanting to start a war over Taiwan or anywhere else. War is not good for business, and they want continued strong economic growth.

I would guess that the CCP would be in trouble with their affluent population if living standards went backwards.

And from my understanding, even with all the Taiwan talk, both countries have very close economic relations and at the end of the day they are culturally/ ethnically the same people.
Will the USA let this economic and military growth continue as their hegemony declines? That is the dangerous million-dollar question.
By the talk coming from US Hawks, it's anyone's guess.

Apparently Musks SpaceX was under investigation by the Inspector General of
U SAid , for how it’s satellite terminals were being used in the Ukraine Russian war,
when Musk axed it .
It also helps
Chinas Belt and Road Policy, which was the Chinese counterpart to USAid
Musk also axed the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau ,
Which basically helps consumers who are ripped off by big banks and corporations,
Which returned $22 billion to consumers
For a cost of $800 million,
Where’s the corruption there?

Trump has just received a $US500 million down payment on subs we arguably don't need. I suspect the total order has a fair bit of profit built into it.

Why should Albo go and beg, when Trump should have exempted all our exports from tariffs with the placement of the order.

It would be a kick in the teeth if he didn't apply an exemption.

But if he had his heart set on tariffs, I'd tell him we'll start charging rent for Pine Gap. $400 million a year would be a good starting point.

There is a good chance Aus will get an exemption on steel tariffs. Albo handed over $800 million US last week. Trump is transactional. The US also needs Aus to be the deputy sheriff in the Pacific and keep a watch on China. Trump will also love holding Albo by the balls and expect more as payback in the future. All imo.

Children being targeted by snipers has been on the record for months by US medical professionals citizens.

Not random cases, but deliberate targeting.

If Israel have nothing to hide let international media in.

But Israel have right to defend itself.

What garbage the areas the IDF operate in on the ground are cleared of civilians if there is any that wont leave they aren't walking around when Hamas and IDF are in the area.

Calling American doctors liars?
I'm over any argument with you but facts are facts and autopsies don't lie.

Still believe in the 40 beheaded babies I'm guessing as everything Israel claims must be true?

You mean like the western doctor's at the start of the war that claimed 300 died in a IDF rocket strike on a hospital, and then it turned out to be a misfired Palestine Islamic Jihad rocket that caused a 2 ft dent in the carpark the fire ball being the cars that caught on fire.

In the end there was no evidence of any deaths because it's likely no body was in the carpark area.

Google western doctors in Gaza and you quickly get the picture "Mohammed Mustafa" from Perth, Dr Modher Albeiruti from Sydney, not that non arab doctor's cant be full of shit they are in Gaza for a reason and would probably get a bullet through the head from Hamas if they dont stick to Hamas narratives.

But hey you keep on believing that Israel just wants to kill children and women and that Hamas and Co are good honest people that just want peace and promises of killing all Jews is just a case of tourettes.

Anyway Trump still sounds keen on his Gaza plan.
