You obviously don't listen to Joe Rogan Dill.
Yeah thats what i thought when i read that, Joe would love him on, id expect Joe is a fan of him, he loves boxing and martial arts, and the people he has on are as diverse as can be.
Id be surprised if he doesn't get some type of invite now from Joe to come on the show.
As for Joe being a pussy, unless you are someone like Wladamir Klitschko, I dont think anyone would say that to his face, Joe has practiced a variety of martial arts for decades went professional as a kick boxer and has a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu.
BTW. I dont know who is right, but what Joe said is what many here have been saying.

Just heard that mortgage rates have gone up significantly since the election and Walmart and others are being forced to increase prices because of the impending Trump tarrifs .
What is your opinion of this news.

If you read the comments to the tweet you will see that Rogan/his organisation has already wimped on Klitschko's offer and accused him of trying to cash in on the "world's biggest podcast".
Like I said, a pussy, and I'd love the opportunity to call him that to his face, and tell him why, and call him a Beta Trump simp too. He doesn't scare me. No fucks to give here.
Hook me up.
All the better if he takes a swing or MMA's me.
I'd buy a house on the North Shore with his money once I got out of hospital, and he'd wanna be careful, I might just make an earring trophy out of his nuts before he puts me to sleep in a choker or goes the ground and pound.
When's he coming to Australia?

I’m sure you’ve seen this. I don’t know how they finished an episode.
If anyone hasn’t seen Derek or Afterlife they are brilliant. Seppos( as this is the seppo thread )don’t do comedy tv comedy well.
English…. Friday Night Dinners and The Inbetweeners are absolutely brilliant.
Afterlife is the only thing I can watch with Ricky Gervais in it. Great show.

Some comments on a social media platform are far from a reliable source.
And there is no story on a rejection on google, plenty of articles though on the tweet.
Give it a few days or week, id be surprised if Joe doesn't respond in some way via media or on his podcast, id be putting my money on it that he will say id love to have him come on the show and will most likely sing his praises, which wont be sucking up, it will just be how he feels.

Sorry that should be will be forced to increase prices when Trumps tarrifs come in,
So people and businesses are stocking up
before this rise ,?
Companies will be capitalising on the threat of tarrifs by increasing prices.
If I was in the USA I'd start printing bumper stickers saying, Don't blame me, I didn't vote for Trump.
If Joe chickens out, I reckon free speech champion Tucker Carlson will answer the call and offer Wlad the not quite as world changing but still better than Old Media and more influential than Call Me Daddy pulpit of the world’s fourth biggest podcast. He encourages a diversity of opinion too. He doesn’t do karate like Joe, but he does shoot birds. So he should be fine. If Tucker insists on his first amendment right to spend the whole podcast saying nasty things about Raytheon, Wlad could still go on the world's 18th most popular podcast, and have a conversation with Chris Williamson. He’s diverse too. Not only does he podcast with the podcasters that all the podcasters that matter podcast with, he… well, 18 on the charts is pretty good, and he scientifically lifts weights and adheres to the teachings of Dr. Andrew Huberman, so he should be fine too.
@Erotic Jeff
I know very little on that stuff.
But i do know from previously looking into the background of things that, that YouTube channel was created by some anti Trump group, so id take it for what it is just propaganda and be looking for a better more balanced source like a reputable finance channel for a proper more balanced view point
Id also expect it's to early to make a call either way and have trouble understanding how "mortgage rates have gone up significantly since the election" surely if they have gone up, its just one small move?
I have no idea if they would have otherwise increased, but i wouldn't be surprised if the market is being cautious and just waiting to see what Trump does.
End of the day the people voted and it's what the majority wanted.
My personal opinion is that USA playing hard ball with tariffs or threat of them, is its a good thing in the long term for them and us, all western countries are too reliant on China for many things and need to diversify and start trying to also bring back certain areas of manufacturing, but it is going to mean people will need to pay more for some goods, which isn't always such a bad thing, you only have to see hard trash days to see how things have become so disposable and not valued or appreciated. maybe if we had to pay more for these things again they would be valued more and we would waste less.
Ive said this before but i remember as a kid i got a small BMX in the 80s, it was $99 from Kmart the next standard size up $120, more than forty years latter and in Kmart or big W the bikes for kids are still pretty much the same price.
And every hard rubbish day you see many of these bikes going off to the tip, many still in good condition, while as a kid, finding a bike in hard rubbish would be a dream come true.
Bike thing is just one example.

@Seeds,
nah, hadn't seen that one, the guy playing Kev was hilarious, I do remember the scene though in the series. There's another Derek outtake clip from the scene where Derek keeps wrestling people then falling asleep on top of them when they are pinned, and Gervais keeps farting on the guy playing Kev while he's got him pinned, don't usually go for fart jokes but that clip is pretty funny, I'll try and find it.
I loved Derek, think it's probably Gervais' best work, which is saying something. The way it could swing from outrageous humor to pathos was brilliant, and Gervais' acting was great, a hard role to pull off, without going "full retard". I really liked "Life's Too Short" too with Warwick Davis, and here is one of my favorite scenes, Liam Neeson improv...

There is just so much waste, people buy new things not because the old thing is broken or worn out, but just because, they want the new model or new fashion etc
Maybe we are just grumpy old men, but i see it with my kids too, they have so much toys and sporting things etc because they are so cheap to buy and parents like me naturally spoil them
But I also see that they dont appreciate the things like the way i did as a kid, you know as a kid if you got a decent skateboard or something new and cool like an Atari, and you just cherished it for months or years because most of us didn't get a large amount of toys etc as they would have just costed so much more compared to what wages were.
So yeah in a sense for those luxury type items, it wouldn't be so bad if we had to pay more in a weird way, to help us appreciate the value and not be so disposable and such a throw away society.
BTW.Im only talking about those luxury type imported items and not general cost of living, as although the cost of all those things from china are cheap, the cost of living food, energy, real estate has all gone way up and some people really struggle.

Let’s be clear on something, tariffs gained significant momentum over the last 12-18 months. From Biden to EU leaders they all introduced a range of tariffs, particularly in the auto industry. Look at chaos in Germany, they are going through an existential crisis. WW is shutting down plants, first time in history.
Trump is not coming with some new ideas but volume of application is scary. For example, he said he will implement 10% on everything. That’s actually a lot. Also, he wants to go as high as 60% on everything from China.
These kind of changes carry a risk of short term economic shock. If things cost more money the consumption goes down and so does the GDP.
If you’re keen, this paper is good in demonstrating some scenarios. And I agree, there’s a ton of bullshit YouTube accounts who can’t be taken seriously.
https://www.lse.ac.uk/granthaminstitute/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Econo...
But you can’t look at all this in isolation. Economics works in aggregate; accumulation of interconnected drivers produce overall outcome. I’m curious about income tax cuts, how far will Trump go? If income tax cut is higher than the tariff inflation then people will be better off. But all this is could/should. We don’t know. As everything else in economics, there will always be some winners and some losers. The question is; will Trump increase the number of winners during his administration?

And the lame stream media, normalising everything.
Looked like a Walmart spokesperson to me,
saying they will have to increase prices due to Trump’s promised 60 percent tariffs on Chinese imports.
The Chinese government are reacting to the threat accordingly , and countries like Australia will be an alternative market to the US for China
which will flood Australia with cheap Chinese imports, and will be good in the short term for Australia, by bringing down inflation,
but bad in the long term , because it will
undermine Australian businesses.

@flolo
So your saying it’s possibly nonsense now, that Trumps tarrifs will increase prices
but you’ll have to think about it?
Tell that to the MAGA factory workers,
who have already lost their Christmas bonuses, because their company knows imported materials from China will increase in
January,
and have to stock up on as much as they can afford , before the prices increase .
I don’t think they did all know what they were voting for.
old-dog wrote:If I was in the USA I'd start printing bumper stickers saying, Don't blame me, I didn't vote for Trump.
No surprises here.
Price increase is not guaranteed. Everyone is free to make their own decisions, it’s a market driven economy. Monopolists, of course, will exploit the narrative.
You said that they are ‘forced’ to increase prices. That is nonsense, no one is forced to increase prices, especially not the lending institutions lending money for mortgages. Walmart will be fine. Like I said, economically speaking, you cannot look at one change in isolation. Tariffs are not the only thing that was proposed.

If I was in the US I would be a lot richer than I am here. An incredible country with endless opportunities but unfortunately, it doesn’t look after its most vulnerable citizens.

Well any company importing materials from China , will obviously be paying more. but you don’t think they will pass that on to the consumer . They’re not forced to put up prices, but if they want to stay in business they are
Or some companies might reevaluate their supply chains and source products from other countries to remain competitive. It’s not possible with every single product but certainly is possible for many of them. Smart countries will use this situation to their advantage. Do you really think that people in Walmart will sit idle and just take it on the chin?

Ok so no one anywhere will be putting up prices, because Trump didn’t say they would,
You win great argument.
what are you even talking about @jef? flollo said it's a complex situation, where anything can be happening, but it's not happening all at once due to one thing, right now..

I’m talking about some companies have already cut their workers Christmas bonuses, because Trump said he was putting 60 percent tariffs on Chinese imports, and prices have or will go up,
Yes it’s a complex situation, that’s why you can’t say that no one will be forced to put up prices.
Walmart has announced they will have to if Trump does what he says
And industry can’t afford to second guess him like your average MAGA.
They have to assume he will do what he says he’s going to do , as do the rest of the world.
yes, many things over in @wax land will turn to shit and shift and move under this circus, and many people who thought they'd be saved will have to re-mould their narrative to blame others, cos they wont be blaming trump, but we hope for @wax' sake, their institutions bear the weight of what will come. go to bed.
