Have not personally gone through new version 9 curriculum for it.As from my understanding they lost more than 25 million people, it kind of is a big deal for outcome if WW2....
Yeah you could say the eastern front was biggish.
At the very least, Stalingrad and Kursk should rate a mention in any discussion of WW2.
As well as the rate of industrialisation of the Soviet Union and the impact that would have in the future.
I know it's Wiki but "The Eastern Front was decisive in determining the outcome in the European theatre of operations in World War II, eventually serving as the main reason for the defeat of Nazi Germany and the Axis nations.[3] It is noted by historian Geoffrey Roberts that "More than 80 percent of all combat during the Second World War took place on the Eastern Front".[4]".
Incredible if any mention of the basics is left out of textbooks.
"Men charged in foiled Iranian plot to assassinate Trump
Washington: The US government has charged three men linked to a foiled plot by the Iran regime to kill president-elect Donald Trump, highlighting yet another attempt on the Republican’s life.
Days after Trump’s resounding victory against Kamala Harris, the federal Justice Department has accused Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps of tasking Afghan national Farhad Shakeri to surveil and ultimately assassinate Trump — if possible, before the election
If the assassination could not be carried out within that timeframe, the department alleges, the Revolutionary Guard would wait until after the election because they believed Trump would lose to Harris. This would have resulted in him having fewer Secret Service protections.
According to the indictment, Shakeri told Iranian officials that surveilling and ultimately killing Trump would cost a “huge” amount of money. In response, an official said “we have already spent a lot of money .. . [s]o the money’s not an issue.”
The extraordinary details of the plot were unveiled for the first time in an indictment that was unsealed on Friday (Saturday AEST).
“There are few actors in the world that pose as grave a threat to the national security of the United States as does Iran,” said Attorney General Merrick Garland"

They cover WW2 in year 10 history, only mention of Russia is revolution, nothing in regards to WW2 as far as I can see from curriculum. Just had a quick look.
Anyway off topic.

Iran a threat to the USA national security?
Haha yeah right.
agreed @andym, it could be argued that what happened in Stalingrad has shaped Russian foreign policy ever since. The parallels to the current carnage in Gaza and Lebanon shouldn’t be missed least of all by the Israeli government, there are no winners from such genocide not now nor in the decades to come!
GS & Andys, agree completely, the way Russia sees things are coloured by the Eastern front to this day, so vital to teach. They established the 'Eastern Bloc' in cold war to establish a buffer zone so it couldn't easily happen again. (Completely destroying Germany's ability to wage war and inflicting heavy trauma on it's population postwar was another way to achieve this).
If you are good enough to spin a map in Google maps or Here we go, orient it from western Russia, then spin it 90 degrees so Europe appears at the top of the map. Do the 3d view. Then look at that vast, flat Great European plain in front of you - note where it narrows roughly where Poland is now. That's the bit you want to control to, so you don't have a huge border to defend.

from the west, Russia looks to be about 2.5 x Perth to Sydney drives. Imagine driving that in a tank at 20km/h, it would seem never-ending. Imagine supplying over that distance.
It was to my mothers eternal annoyance (She fled the Russians from Latvia and spent WW2 in Germany getting the shite bombed out of her by the Allies and dodging the SS because she had a Jewish sounding name) that all we ever hear is about the Holocaust.
" What about the 20 million killed and sent to camps that Stalin was responsible for?!" she would exclaim!
From all the media, Hollywood and other sources these days you would think the only people who suffered were Jews.
That annoys me too!
^^ yes very true

Iran a threat to the USA national security?
Haha yeah right.
Um the article is about a foiled assassination plot on Trump who is now president thats 100% a threat to USA national security.
I can only assume that you are only thinking of traditional threats of warfare in that case they are not a threat to USA directly other than to USA military bases in the middle east and our most important ally in the middle east Israel
Taken from elsewhere:
"Iran fights asymmetric warfare. Propaganda, drugs, financial and kinetic terrorism, cyber, proxy non-State disaggregated forces to foment riots and insurgency to provoke a violent State response that can be used as propaganda against our population to subvert trust in government legitimacy as well as internationally and in Iran to keep their population afraid so the Mullahs can keep power and now attempting to add nuclear capability.
These objectively are a serious threat to the US population in the homeland, economic and social interests domestically and internationally and the same for Allies for which we have Treaty obligations. ."

Argh okay that makes sense Barron only 18 helped point his father in the right direction to increase the younger male vote to get him over the line.
It wouldn’t be out of the equation for Barron to have a seat in the Trump leadership team.
Secretary of Defence. Barron, what should we do with Iran?
Barron, let’s shoot ‘em up like in Call of Duty - Modern Warfare III. 2023 Edition. It would be so faaarken sick, brah.
We could also use my new crypto and spam them on the blockchain. I will sell it to the Department of Defence at a discounted price, Elon would want us to use Doge coin but yeah, ya know, fuck Elon.

There's a good reason why kids cant get tattoos even though its a much smaller life changing decision.
- Children mutilated or rendered incapable of having children
- Men in women's sports
- No single sex spaces
- Women being told to strip off in front of nurse Maxine, with his boner
For starters

No I understand that.
I'm suss on the assassin being Iran regime sponsored. Seemed pretty amateur if that's the case.
Maybe I'm wrong, but reckon US propaganda getting into gear.
As far as Iran posing a threat to USA, yeah - na.
Not unless USA goes to war with Iran, which I cannot see either side 'winning.' but would destroy Iran and result in many US deaths.
Kind of pointed out in video I posted by Colonel Wilkerson who was chief of staff for Colin Powell in Bush admin, he'd probably have a fair idea on these things.

Oh my, that is bizarre, the fella, the supercilious host in particular. Nuts. Crazy how the Democratic media insist on jamming people into their narrow ideologically approved demographic boxes. And how out of touch they seem determined to remain. Talk about doubling down. I guess they're feeding their audience what they want to hear.
Instead of a bit of introspection about what went wrong, keep denigrating young men. Stick the boots in. That’s gonna help.
Apparently not all women see things in such black and white terms, like that lot do.
Of the 9 states where abortion was on the ballot, 7 voted to expand abortion rights, and even in Florida, where it failed, 57% of the voters were in favour of protecting the right to abortion.
Arizona is maybe the most relevant case in point. Trump beat Harris by 6 points in the popular vote, yet 61.7% of the voters voted to protect abortion rights.
Unlike MSNBC loony - Anthony Scaramucci, no Trump fan, put it starkly, and provided some much needed nuance during one of the Rest is Politics podcasts.
To paraphrase - he pointed out that white males in America aged 18 to 36 were 33% more likely to commit suicide than any other group. And hoped that a meaningful attempt would be made to address the problem. He said a good bit of the billion dollars the Harris campaign burnt through went towards convincing fathers to vote for their daughters, in the name of reproductive rights. But what happened was that a significant percentage of mothers considered the harm the Democratic woke cultural agenda was causing their sons, and voted for Trump, or at least against the Democrats, on behalf of their sons.
I’d presume, as the numbers indicate, many of these women also voted to protect abortion rights.
Apparently women can feel ‘rage’ about different things, and express themselves accordingly.
On the same theme - the reflections of an introspective Democrat taken from the link Sypkan posted a couple of pages back:
“I was—we were—pummeled by constant reporting about how pissed off women were about abortion, how pissed off they were by Donald Trump’s crudeness, how they constituted a reasonable majority that would promote sanity in public life. At the heart of this was abortion—an impossible moral decision that was far more difficult than Democrats pretended— but abortion turned out not to be as important as other things.
And the biggest, decisive other thing was strength. The appearance of strength beat the appearance of weakness in this election. There is a lesson in that. The boys—and a great proportion of the women who love them—were sick of being pushed around.”
