Recap

Pumping surf in the South West yesterday with easing 8ft sets across the magnets, down to a fun 4-5ft today. Perth and Mandurah saw 2-3ft waves, easing back to 1-2ft today.

This week and weekend (May 18 - 21)

With the large swell from earlier in the week dropping away in size, we've got a good run of conditions but with generally small pulses through the coming week and a half.

Tomorrow morning looks a touch smaller again ahead of a new pulse of W/SW swell due to fill in through the day and peak into the afternoon. This was generated by a tight low on the weekend and it'll offer inconsistent 4-5ft+ sets in the South West through the afternoon, likely 1-2ft across Mandurah and 1-1.5ft in Perth.

As the swell builds, fresh E/NE winds will create clean conditions, tending variable into the afternoon, with similar winds on Friday as the swell eases from a slightly smaller size. Hit the magnets in the South West.

Into later Friday but more so Saturday, an inconsistent, long-range SW groundswell is due, generated in our far swell window, south of South Africa during the weekend as well.

It'll be a long wait for the sets but the South West magnets should pick up 4-5ft sets later in the day Friday, easing back from the 6ft range on Saturday morning with 1-2ft sets in Mandurah and 1-1.5ft waves across Perth.

Conditions will remain great with fresh E-E/NE tending variable winds Saturday, stronger E/NE tending NE on Sunday with some new, fun mid-period SW swell energy. This will be a little under Saturday's size but more consistent and to 4-5ft across the South West magnets, smaller to the north.

Longer term next week looks smaller, slower and weaker as the Southern Ocean goes a little quiet.

Some new swell is on the cards for later in the week but we'll have a closer look at this on Friday.
