Smaller swells, cleanest when at their low point
Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 8th November)
Best Days: Swell magnets in the South West tomorrow, Monday morning, mid-late morning through early afternoon Tuesday and Wednesday in the South West, Friday morning and Saturday week
Recap
Not the best conditions across the South West yesterday with a steadily easing SW swell with S-S/SE winds through the morning, better around Perth and Mandurah with easing 2ft to occasionally 3ft sets.
Today the swell is all but gone with Margs the best for a small 3ft wave.
This weekend and next week (Nov 9 - 15)
The surf will remain minimal into tomorrow morning with maybe the odd stray 2-3ft set across the Margaret River swell magnets, tiny to the north. An E/NE breeze will create great conditions, tending variable ahead of late sea breezes.
Later in the day some new inconsistent W/SW groundswell is expected to build, though likely with those sea breezes, peaking on Sunday but it now looks like onshore winds will kick in sooner. There'll likely be a window with building surf and clean conditions across the South West to keep an eye on Saturday.
A weak low that was forecast to develop to our east now looks to be a weaker trough, and we'll see a dawn NW-W/NW breeze (possibly light in the South West) giving into a strong S/SW change mid-morning. Perth and Mandurah look to see unfavourable and fresh dawn N/NW breezes.
Size wise there's no change to the long-range W/SW groundswell with inconsistent waves around 6ft in the South West, if not for the odd bigger sneaker, 2ft+ in Mandurah and 2ft in Perth.
Monday looks better with a fresh morning S/SE breeze and easing W/SW groundswell from 4-5ft in the South West 1-2ft further north.
Conditions will continue to improve as the swell continues to fade Tuesday and Wednesday with strong E/SE morning offshores on the former and E'ly on the later.
Winds should ease and remain generally favourable through the end of the week and we've got some small to moderate sized mid-period W/SW swell on the cards.
It won't have any major strength, generated by broad but relatively weak low forming south-east of South Africa. Various fetches of strong W/SW winds will be generated in our far to medium range swell window, breaking down north of Heard Island mid-week.
An initial increase in size is likely through Thursday ahead of the best swell Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
Size wise we're looking at the surf peaking around 4-5ft across the South West, 1-1.5ft in Mandurah and 1ft in Perth later Friday and Saturday morning with morning SE-E/SE winds, but we'll confirm this on Monday. Have a great weekend!
