Western Australia Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 30th November)

Best Days: Friday morning in the South West

Recap

Poor waves yesterday with a small swell and S/SE winds, while today is much better with a new SW swell to 4-5ft across the South West under a morning offshore wind. Further north the surf was a little better with 1-2ft sets around Mandurah and 1-1.5ft in Perth.

This week and weekend (Dec 1 - 4)

Our small mix of SW and S/SW swell for tomorrow is still on track, with a tight mid-latitude low currently south of Margs producing an initial kick tomorrow morning.

Margs should hang around 3-5ft, while Perth only looks to come in around 1ft, while a secondary S/SW pulse for the afternoon should be seen from a trailing fetch of strong S/SW winds behind the low.

Similar sized sets are due into the afternoon before easing from 3-4ft+ Friday morning.

Conditions tomorrow won't be ideal with a S/SE tending S/SW breeze, but Friday looks great with a morning E'ly offshore before sea breezes kick in.

The weekend isn't looking too good with an onshore W'ly wind and smaller swell Saturday, remaining small Sunday with a morning S/SE'ly.

Next week onwards (Dec 5 onwards)

Early next week isn't looking too flash as a couple of mid-latitude lows fire up and into the South West of the state. The first one will be weak and only generate a small onshore swell for Tuesday, but a stronger low is on the cards for Wednesday and Thursday.

If this occurs, winds are only due to improve once the swell is much smaller, but more on this Friday.
