Not the best weekend, slow start to next week
Victoria Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 23rd September)
Best Days: Swell magnets Saturday morning, Surf Coast keen surfers Saturday morning, selected spots east of Melbourne Monday morning and keen surfers west of Melbourne, Surf Coast later Tuesday and Wednesday both coasts
Recap
Terrible conditions yesterday with a fresh to strong onshore wind and moderate sized swell, while today was much cleaner and improving across all locations with a variable wind. The swell is smaller though and back to 2ft on the Surf Coast and 3ft to occasionally 4ft on the Mornington Peninsula.
This weekend (Sep 24 - 25)
There won't much surf left across the state tomorrow, so you'll have to head to swell magnets during the morning for any chance of a decent wave.
Easing 1-1.5ft sets are likely on the Surf Coast, while the Mornington peninsula should offer easing 3ft sets. Conditions will be excellent for exposed breaks though with local offshore winds, tending N/NE for the most part.
Our inconsistent W/SW groundswell for Sunday is still on track, with it being generated in our far swell window in the south-east Indian Ocean.
There'll be long waits between sets but exposed breaks like 13th Beach should see infrequent 2-3ft sets, smaller in around Torquay, with 4-5ft+ sets on the Mornington Peninsula.
A W/NW breeze is expected across the Torquay region Sunday morning, W/SW everywhere else and this will create clean conditions in protected spots, but the swell will be small here.
Next week onwards (Sep 26 onwards)
Easing surf is still expected on Monday but with cleaner conditions across both regions with a N/NW tending NW breeze. Small easing 2ft+ waves are due on the Surf Coast and 4ft sets on the Mornington Peninsula.
A small to moderate sized and inconsistent SW groundswell is due into Tuesday afternoon, generated by a polar low that's currently south-west of WA. We may see the Surf Coast increase to an inconsistent 2-3ft through the afternoon and W/NW breezes will keep conditions relatively clean.
Later in the week we may see some larger W/SW groundswell. Firstly a moderate sized W/SW groundswell is on the cards for later Wednesday and Thursday morning but this looks to be overridden by a swell generated by a deep and powerful mid-latitude low forming in the Bight mid next week. The models are still divergent on how far north this low will sit, and this will be the clincher for size across our coast. If too far north the swell will be too west, so check back here Monday for an update on this system. Have a great weekend!

Just a head up, Superfish had his car stolen. More deets below:
Thanks Craig have a good weekend everyone yew
Good luck for getting your car and boards back mate. There's been a prevalence of this fucking scum around in recent times down here. They're doing house burgs as well and cops reckon they come from Nth Geelong/Corio in a lot of cases. A local bloke I surf with a bit had his car stolen from Boobs car park on a quiet Tuesday a few weeks ago while he was out surfing. Cunts got his house keys, wallet, laptop with work stuff on it etc. nothing recovered. Try to park with bare essentials in your car and take key with you when you surf. A few years ago I got a metal door key cut from my electronic key for that reason and I hide the keys in a place in the car that the cunts would have to tear the seats out to find. Real shame.......never used to be like this around here.
Yeah no matter your car, unless keyless entry, you can go down to your Mister Minit and get a metal key cut for $5-10.
It' won't start the car but will open and close it.
Put in your leggy/wetsuit or hide down in the bushes somewhere.
This really is the only way to go these days. The padlock safes are handy but they can't be that hard to smash into. It also show thieves exactly where your car keys are if you leave it hanging from your towbar or something. Cut key in your wettie and lock the electronic key in a key safe inside your car would be the safest
Hid the key behind a distinctive rock one time and then couldn't find the bloody thing after my surf! Took me half an hour to locate it, whilst freezing my arse off in a wet wettie.
Every method has its pros and cons. The numbered padlocks are unreal though, I take mine whenever I travel too.
Not as good as the the dude who decided to hide his keys in the dunes a couple months back. Hes probly still looking for them..
Couple of fun leftover sets across the 13th stretch this morning.
Yeew! 13th beaches was pumping this morning! Some super fun ones coming through
I got myself one of those padlock safes and they are really good. I got one after loosing my keys under a rock one day too haha. Was like on that super cold day in July, that day the clouds looked really good. By the time I found them my hands and fingers were so cold I couldn't open my door so had to ask someone to turn the key for me haha. Pumping waves that day though!
You just need to make sure that you get a bigger one if you have a bulky electronic key. The ones from ocean and earth are really good!
Heads up, my car was found yesterday .... found about a km away with some petty left so it didnt get much of an adventure !! Thanks Craig and everyone , will heed everyones advice regarding key sitch. Still got some good waves this w.e. Cheers Craig and everyone yew !!!!
Well done. You get your boards back?
Sure you just didn't remember where you actually parked it?
Yeah ralf 13th was truly epic!!! :)
Great to hear SF.
And looking good at 13th again today:
Yea boards beack, probably too recognizable to use or sell. Just wallet and iPod missing
