Recap
All in all it looks like yesterday’s S/SW swell came in a little under the expected 6ft with surf building more to 4-5ft into the afternoon, best in protected spots that could handle the wind.
This morning we’ve got easing surf with cleaner conditions, coming in at 3ft+ with a weak sea breeze now in.
This weekend and next week (Oct 28 - Nov 3)
The current swell will continue to ease into tomorrow across Clifton, though slowly thanks to the slow moving nature of the polar front that generated it. Sets to 2ft to possibly 3ft are due in the morning, smaller through the afternoon and with strengthening N/NE winds. This will favour some spots over others.
Our new pulse of S/SE groundswell for Sunday looks a little smaller now, with the backside of the frontal progression not generating as healthy fetch gales in our swell window.
Still we should see fun 2ft sets with N/NW offshores ahead of strengthening E/NE sea breezes.
Early next week will start out slow, but into Tuesday we’ve got an upgrade in the coming Southern Ocean frontal system.
A great, slow moving fetch of gale to severe-gale W/SW winds will produce a moderate sized W/SW groundswell that will build rapidly Tuesday, peaking into the afternoon to 4ft on the sets.
The morning looks smaller and cleaner with a W/NW offshore shifting W/SW through the afternoon and strengthening, spoiling the peak of the energy.
Wednesday should be nice and clean again with W/NW winds ahead of weaker SE sea breezes and easing surf from the 3ft+ range.
We’re looking at some reinforcing swell for later in the week thanks to healthy, trailing polar activity but we’ll have a closer look at this on Monday. Have a great weekend!
