Recap

A reinforcing W/SW swell maintained 2ft waves through yesterday, pulsing a little stronger into the afternoon, then easing back from 1-2ft this morning. Conditions were clean with a bit of an onshore but workable breeze this afternoon.

This week and weekend (Aug 31 – Sep 3)

A temporary low point in swell is due tomorrow but still 1-1.5ft and with clean conditions under a N/NW offshore, shifting W/SW into the afternoon as a cold front clips the state.

The frontal system, linked to this change should bring a fun pulse of mid-period W/SW swell that's due to build into tomorrow afternoon and peak Friday.

This progression is currently south of Western Australia with a fetch of strong to gale-force W'ly winds due to weaken as it pushes further east towards us.

A peak on Friday to 2-3ft is due but unfortunately winds will remain onshore from the W/SW tending S/SE as the backside of the progression pushes up and across us.

Saturday looks smaller but cleaner with easing 2ft sets with a N tending E'ly breeze, fading further into Sunday.

As touched on last update, we've got a strong flurry of mid-latitude frontal activity due into the end of the week through the weekend, generating large pulses of W'ly groundswell that at this stage look generally too far north of our swell window.

I'd expect slow 1-2ft waves max into Tuesday, while the rest of the week is still a little up in the air. For now lower your expectations regarding the outlook for next week but check back for an update Friday.
