Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 2nd September)

Best Days: Tomorrow, Friday, Saturday

Recap

Small, clean 1-2ft surf yesterday, similar today and good for beginners and bigger boards.

This week and weekend (Sep 3 - 6)

Our new S/SW swell for tomorrow morning is on track, generated by a burst of W/SW gales through our southern swell window the last couple of days.

We may see this swell later today but tomorrow should reveal 2ft+ sets under a N/NE tending late afternoon NW breeze.

Come Friday the swell looks to be on the way out but some new W/SW swell energy is due, holding Saturday before easing Sunday. This run of swell is being generated by not overly strong fetches of strong to gale-force W/SW-W winds through our western swell window today, weaker tomorrow but a touch more favourably aligned.

Size wise sets to 1-1.5ft are due Friday and 1-2ft Saturday with an all day N/NW offshore on the former, N/NW tending SW on the latter.

Following this the South Arm is expected to become quiet as all the storm and frontal activity is focussed up and across Western Australia, north of our swell windows.

There may be a tiny hint of W/SW swell mid-week but the developments from the following weekend beyond are a bit better. More on this Friday.
