After his 2021 breakout year on the Championship Tour, it felt like we'd be cheering on Morgs in that arena for years to come. He beat John John, twice, came second in the Rottnest Search event, and made the Final Five in his first outing.

Back foot-heavy rail work was in the ascendance and that suited Morgs just fine with his twitch-free full face carves, accentuated by zero gravity finners whenever he aimed over the lip.

Yet 2022 was everything the prior year wasn't. For one, it was the first year of the mid-year cut so surfers had just five comps to get their act together. Morgs started with a 33rd, then had three 17ths, and a 9th - and suddenly he was off tour.

Nor could he recreate his back end run that saw him promoted to the CT. He finished 12th on the Challenger in 2022, 16th in 2023, and is down to 19th this year. Despite proving he could not only make the CT but thrive on it, Morgs is now lost in Changaland.

Reasons..? Who knows? Nothing is obvious. The Challenger is just a wildly tough series with many talented surfers so good luck has to roll your way all year long.

Outside of the coloured vests, Morgs has been working on this short-ish edit. With three great tunes, it's a reminder of what the one-time Final Fiver is capable of.

Maybe main reason morgs failed at changa is the crap waves it’s surfed in
Whereas some of the brazzo s thrive in that rubbish

what's with calling it The Challenger? sound spacey and too long to read. I think @Spout had thraed in favour of just calling it the Changa.

I don't know where I stand on it now. I'm nervous and uncertain.

Though 'Changaland' sounds better than 'Challengerland'.

...I think.

Got any loose change for the Changer bro!
Like who knew that The Changer Crisis rings true!

So this Vid is a piss take on bumming Surfside Buses for Starkie's Pub Crawl.

Fuck me...swellnet gonna need a bigger board swap to bankroll The Changa!
tbb 'll have to donate his bleedin' heart...just wait till we get the all clear next year...(Cough!)
Maybe auction off one heavily dented rusty unfathomobile...get $3 bucks for that..(Coughing Fit!)

Good to see Rip Curl is still supporting Morgs. I'm sure Morgs was a great ambassador for Rip Curl. If people love the guy they are more inclined to buy the product. There were plenty of sick waves in that clip.

am I warming to kmd's little rip curl department? haven't thought much about the big brands conceptually, but every time a legacy brand does something lately that tweaks my nipples, be it funding an interesting film, worthy off point surfer or big wave comp, it's rip curl..

Anyone seeing more than a hint of Conner Coffin in Morgs’ surfing?

I’m not sure Connor had Morgs air game, but the carves are reminiscent

on second viewing they are similar in the walled out waves but on the shorter beach break surf Morgs has way more variety .

I wouldn’t say Morgs has an advanced air game, certainly not one employable in the competition moments

Rail work is immense and style solid. Seems like a good lad too, great edit.
