Average run until later next week
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 6th March)
Best Days: Wednesday morning beginners, otherwise Thursday onwards next week
Recap
Small and onshore yesterday, bumpy and a little more workable today for the desperate.
This weekend and next week (Mar 7 - 13)
The weekend looks poor with a mix of windswells and strong but easing onshore S/SW tending S/SE winds, moderate out of the S/SE-SE on Sunday morning.
Monday isn't looking any better with lingering onshore SW winds, tending S/SE through the day and tiny amounts of swell.
Tuesday looks to remain tiny, but into Wednesday we may see a slight uptick in small background SW groundswell, more so Thursday morning.
This swell will be generated by a strengthening polar front south-west of us early next week. This first pulse doesn't look to offer much over 1-2ft through Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, with sea breezes on the former and offshore winds on the later.
Friday looks similar in size but later in the day and more so Saturday a better and stronger W/SW groundswell is due.
The swell will be generated by a secondary much stronger and more elongated polar frontal progression firing up through next week, with fetches of pre-frontal and post-frontal severe-gale W/NW-W/SW winds, generating an inconsistent 2-3ft of W/SW groundswell for Saturday morning.
Unfortunately it looks like a trough will move through bringing onshore S/SW winds, but we'll have a closer look at this on Monday. Have a great weekend!
