One more good swell inbound, make the most of it
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 2nd March)
Best Days: Protected spots later tomorrow, Wednesday, Thursday morning
Recap
Great conditions with a drop in swell from Friday with clean 2-3ft waves Saturday, kicking in size Sunday with a new S/SW groundswell and excellent conditions across breaks handling the swell.
This morning it's back to 2-3ft with onshore winds, only for the super keen.
This week and weekend (Mar 3 - 8)
We've got one final pulse of groundswell on the cards from the strong node of the Long Wave Trough moving in from the west last week, with a good polar front currently projecting up and towards us.
After a downgrade Friday, the front is now a touch better than expected, with a good fetch of strong to gale-force SW winds being projected up through our south-western and southern swell windows today and tomorrow morning.
The swell is due to build through tomorrow, from 3ft or so in the morning, up to 4-5ft later in the day, then easing back from the 4ft range Wednesday morning.
Conditions tomorrow will be poor with the front moving through, bringing W/SW tending S/SW winds, excellent Wednesday with N tending stronger E/NE winds.
N/NE tending E/NE winds will persist Thursday as the swell fades back further from 2ft.
Moving into the end of the week and an onshore change Friday will create poor conditions with a tiny easing swell, remaining poor into the weekend and early next week.
Longer term only small surf is on the cards for mid-late next week out of the SW from polar fronts skirting across the polar shelf, but we'll have a closer look at this Wednesday.
