Today’s Forecaster Notes are brought to you by Rip Curl
This weekend and next week (Apr 19- 22)
Today's large S/SW groundswell was generated by a vigorous polar frontal system that has since moved off to the east and out of our swell window.
We'll see the surf ease as a result, backing off this afternoon and further from 2-3ft tomorrow morning NW offshore ahead of SE sea breezes, holding 1-2ft Friday and Saturday as a weak front fires up to our south this evening, generating a small S/SW swell.
Conditions will be favourable both Friday and Saturday mornings with NW offshores with SE sea breezes on the former, and E/NE winds on the later.
The surf will start to ease from Sunday with fading 1-1.5ft sets, while a good fetch of SE gales pushing up on the tail of the weak frontal activity, south of New Zealand Friday evening should produce a small S/SE groundswell for later Monday and more so Tuesday morning to 2ft.
Conditions are looking great for this period with morning offshores and bumpy conditions into the afternoon.
Longer term there's nothing significant on the cards until next weekend as the Southern Ocean remains void of storm activity. So make the most of the the coming days!
