Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Monday 6th November)

Best Days: Protected spots tomorrow, Wednesday, Thursday morning, Friday morning, Saturday morning

Recap

Tiny average waves Saturday, with a lift in swell yesterday to 2ft with OK conditions, holding a similar size this morning with nice clean conditions.

This week and weekend (Nov 7 - 12)

We've got a bit of swell on the cards for the current forecast period.

Firstly through tomorrow, a solid increase in S/SW groundswell is due, generated by a strong polar low that formed in our swell window over the weekend.

A fetch of gale to sometimes severe-gale W/SW tending SW winds are being projected through our south-western and then southern swell windows, with the system pushing up and across us this evening.

What we should see is a moderate sized SW-S/SW groundswell, mixed in with windswell, peaking tomorrow morning/midday to 3-5ft across Clifton, easing back through Wednesday from 3ft or so.

Unfortunately winds tomorrow look poor for open beaches with a strong SW'ly in the wake of this evening's change. Wednesday will be great though with a NW tending W breeze.

Moving into Thursday and more so Friday, another fun SW groundswell is due to fill in, produced by a polar front forming south-west of us tomorrow evening.

A fetch of W/SW gales will be produced through our south-western swell window, with a late increase in size Thursday from 2ft during the morning, to 2-3ft, with a peak Friday morning to 3ft+.

Thursday and Friday mornings look clean, but an onshore change is due on the former, with SE sea breezes on the later.

Moving into the weekend and beyond, there's nothing major on the cards at all, so make the most of the coming week.
