Plenty of surf over the coming days, tiny from the end of the week
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 25th August)
Best Days: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday morning
Recap
Clean 2-3ft waves across Clifton Saturday morning ahead of a strong pulse of new SW groundswell with all day offshores offering some great peaking options.
Sunday saw plenty of swell but poor conditions with a strong polar front slamming into the state, bringing onshore winds.
The swell and conditions settled down into today leaving solid 3ft waves across Clifton and offshore breezes.
This week and weekend (Aug 29 – Sep 3)
We should continue to see plenty of swell tomorrow and Wednesday across the South Arm, generated by couple of good polar frontal systems over the weekend, plus an additional front projecting towards us tomorrow.
Tomorrow should continue around 2ft+ with all day offshore NW tending W/NW winds, while Wednesday we'll see the surf jump to 3ft as a broad polar front projects a fetch of strong SW winds towards us.
Winds are an issue with the change moving through early morning, most likely resulting in W/SW breezes, tending more S/SW through the day.
Thursday will be good across various spots with a NW tending E/NE breeze and easing surf from 2-3ft.
After this there's nothing significant on the cards until next week when a very strong polar frontal progression is forecast to develop to our south-west due to a stalling and strong node of the Long Wave Trough in our region. More on this Wednesday.
