Easing S'ly swell with smaller SW swells
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 18th August)
Best Days: Saturday morning, Sunday, Monday, Wednesday onwards
Recap
Tiny waves yesterday, while a good new S/SW swell is on the build today with onshore winds. Protected spots should offer fun options later today as the swell peaks.
This weekend and next week (Aug 19 - 25)
The frontal system responsible for today's building S'ly swell is slipping off to the east and with this we'll see a peak in size this evening, dropping back through tomorrow from the the 3ft+ range.
Conditions should be clean with a W/NW breeze, swinging onshore around midday/early afternoon.
The swell will continue to fade through Sunday, but some new SW swell is due from weak polar frontal activity moving through our swell window over the coming days.
Clifton should hang around 1-2ft Sunday and Monday, bottoming out Tuesday morning.
Winds will be great through this period and offshore, giving into an onshore change Tuesday.
This change will be linked to a weakening polar front moving towards us over the weekend, with a slight lift in size back to 2ft due Wednesday.
Longer term we're looking at some stronger polar frontal activity into the end of the week, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
