Fun swell over the weekend, with another pulse next week
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 24th February)
Best Days: Early Saturday, Sunday morning, early Monday beginners, Tuesday
Recap
Fading S/SE swell from a clean 1-1.5ft yesterday, tiny into this morning. A new W/SW swell is expected to kick later today, and Cape Sorell is showing signs of this swell.
This weekend and next week (Feb 25 – Mar 3)
This afternoon's increase in swell is the first of two, with the secondary better pulse due to fill in tomorrow.
The front that generated this swell is currently weakening while passing under us, with the swell due to fill in tomorrow, reaching 2ft to occasionally 3ft across Clifton, easing off slowly from 2ft+ Sunday morning, with 1-1.5ft leftovers Monday morning.
An early W/NW wind is expected tomorrow morning before shifting onshore, while Sunday will see N/NW offshores ahead of SE sea breezes, similar Monday.
Into Tuesday we're now looking at a fun pulse of W/SW groundswell across Clifton.
An intense low tracking east-southeast from the Indian Ocean will generate a fetch of gale to severe-gale W'ly winds through our swell window. The swell should peak through the day Tuesday to a good 2ft (if not for the odd bigger one) before fading Wednesday.
Beyond this we may see some new swell later in the week/weekend, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
