Flat ahead of a small swell Sunday and better S/SW swell Monday
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 8th February)
Best Days: Early Sunday, early Tuesday, Wednesday
Recap
Fading 1-1.5ft surf yesterday morning with light winds through the morning, back to a very tiny 1ft this morning.
This week and next (Feb 9 - 17)
The outlook for the coming days and weekend isn'y too special until later Saturday and more so Sunday.
Effectively flat conditions are due over the coming days, while a weak front passing under us Saturday should produce a late kick in tiny W/SW swell, peaking Sunday around 1-1.5ft.
Of greater importance is a secondary better aligned polar front projecting a fetch of strong S/SW winds through our southern swell window later Sunday and into Monday, kicking up 3ft+ of S/SW swell through the day Monday.
Conditions will unfortunately be poor though with a strong W/SW tending SW wind. Protected locations will probably be too small to offer anything of significance.
Another weak front pushing up through our southern swell window on Tuesday will slow the easing trend Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday should drop slightly from 2-3ft, further from 2ft Wednesday morning.
A morning W/NW'ly is likely Tuesday, with NE tending fresh NE winds on Wednesday.
Longer term there's potential for fun W/SW swell pulses late week, but more on this Friday.
