Best Days: Early Sunday, Monday morning, Wednesday and Thursday mornings

Recap

A good clean fun drop in W/SW swell from Wednesday, back to 2ft yesterday with morning offshore winds, while today the swell was still 1-2ft but with a bit of north in the wind early.

We'll see the swell continue to ease through the day as winds swing more NW.

This weekend and next week (Jan 14 - 20)

Tomorrow is due to be tiny during the morning, but into the afternoon we'll start to see some solid W/SW swell building as a vigorous low passes under us.

This low, which is currently in the Bight, will project a fetch of severe-gale to storm-force W/SW winds through our western swell window tomorrow morning, moving more into our south-west swell window tomorrow evening.

This will result in a solid late kick in W/SW groundswell tomorrow, reaching an easy 3ft by dark but with strong W/SW winds.

Sunday should see a larger SW swell, coming in around 4-5ft+, and tending more S/SW into the afternoon and Monday while easing.

Monday morning should continue to see some good sized S/SW swell, easing back from an easy 3ft or so.

Winds on Sunday morning should be offshore from the NW early, swinging W/SW through the morning and likely SE with sea breezes.

Monday looks similar with a morning NE'ly ahead of a SE sea breeze.

Through most of next week we'll see small levels of inconsistent S/SE swell from a stationary fetch of strong E/SE-SE winds along the polar shelf between us and New Zealand Sunday through Tuesday.

The swell looks to building through Tuesday and peak Wednesday and Thursday, coming in around 2ft or so on the sets across Clifton.

Morning offshore winds are expected through this period ahead of afternoon sea breezes.

Longer term nothing too significant is on the cards, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
