Tiny ahead of some small W/SW swell on the weekend
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Wednesday 17th August)
Best Days: Sunday, Monday through Wednesday
Recap
A late kick in new W/SW swell Monday eased back from the 2ft+ range yesterday morning, while a small reinforcing W/SW swell has kept 1-2ft sets hitting Clifton this morning.
This week and weekend (Aug 18 - 21)
Today's small W/SW swell will fade through tomorrow with not much above 1ft left across Clifton, tiny into Friday.
Now, the intense low that was forecast to develop south-west of us Friday and into the weekend is now expected to form under WA and the Bight, tracking slowly east-southeast while expending most of its energy before passing under us in a much weaker form over the weekend.
A fetch of severe-gale to storm-force W/SW winds will be generated too north of our swell window, with a large W'ly swell impacting our West Coast on Saturday morning not expected to really get in.
Maybe 1-2ft sets will be seen, but Sunday is a better chance as a fetch of strong W/SW winds move into our swell window.
This should see better 2ft sets through Sunday under W/NW tending W'ly winds.
Into early next week some fun S'ly swell is due across Clifton, generated by a fetch of strong S/SE winds stalling in our southern swell window through Saturday afternoon to Monday morning.
A good S'ly swell will build Monday, reaching 2-3ft later, peaking Tuesday to a good 3ft+, easing back Wednesday. Good offshore NW to N/NE winds are due through this period, providing plenty of fun surfing options. We'll have another look at this Friday though.

How big a southerly swell do the points need ? How big would clifton be under these conditions ?
Thanks
I don't want to give away too much on how big a swell the points need.
Mostly though if the points are working, Clifton will be maxing and too big.
Fair enough, thanks. Have a good weekend
