Good W/SW pulse tomorrow, nothing major till later next week
Southern Tasmania Surf Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 13th May)
Best Days: Saturday, Sunday morning, Friday
Recap
Another strong large kick in swell to a 3-4ft across Clifton yesterday, easing back today to 2-3ft.
This weekend and next week (May 13 - 20)
Yesterday's swell will continue to ease into tomorrow, but a couple of back to back frontal systems passing under us today and this evening will generate one final decent pulse of W/SW groundswell tomorrow.
This should see sets kick to 3ft through the morning across Clifton, holding into the afternoon before fading from the 1-2ft range Sunday.
Winds look great tomorrow with a N/NW'ly developing through the morning, tending NW into the afternoon, with NW tending W/NW winds Sunday.
Into Monday a very inconsistent and acute west swell is due to provide 1ft+ sets across Clifton with offshore winds, while an intense mid-latitude low that's due to generate very large surf for WA and SA will be too far north for us.
Instead as the weakening low moves across us Tuesday, a small kick in S'ly windswell is due from a S'ly change, kicking later in the day and easing from 1-2ft Wednesday as winds swing back offshore.
Longer term we may see a strong mid-latitude front strengthening as it pushes across us Thursday afternoon and evening, followed by a secondary system Friday.
This looks to kick up another moderate sized W/SW groundswell for Friday to to 3-4ft with W/NW winds, but more on this Monday. Have a great weekend!
