Recap
Small NE swells yesterday held size in the 1-2ft range under NW winds. Small S swells today have pushed up into the 2ft range at S facing beaches with winds shifting NW to NE then W/SW late in the day.
This weekend and next week (Sep22 - Sep29)
No great change to the weekend f/cast. A passing front leaves a W-SW flow overnight before winds tend variable in the morning, likely ending up light SE-NE in the a’noon. Those winds will tend more N’ly on Sunday and freshen as high pressure moves NE of the Island.
Surf-wise, not much swell expected for the weekend with a dying swell from the S on Sat supplying a few 1-2ft waves.
Small from the S again Sun, with 1-2ft surf at S facing beaches and a small NE windswell signal in the a’noon. Nothing over 1-2ft expected.
Into next week and no major swell sources on the radar. High pressure moves NE into the Tasman with as N’ly fetch off the NSW S Coast likely to generate some small NE windswell Mon. No great size, just a few waves in the 1-2ft range. Winds start light before a S’ly change as a new high pressure ridge builds in.
A small blend of NE windswell and minor S swell Tues looks to be of similar size.
Looks to be a small local E/NE swell from a fetch off the Southern NSW Coast Tues/Wed which should see surf in the 2ft range Wed/Thurs under light/variable winds Wed, tending more W’ly Thurs as a front passes to the south.
Further ahead and we should see some S swell wrap next weekend as a front and compact low pass into the Tasman. Models are divergent so expect revisions on Mon but for now pencil in 2-3ft surf from the S next weekend.
Check back Mon and have a great weekend!
