Recap
Tiny yesterday with a very slow, inconsistent E/NE swell to the 2ft range on the open beaches today.
This weekend and next week (Aug 20 - 26)
Looking at the coming inconsistent E/NE groundswell event and we've had a good idea on arrival times down the East Coast during today. The swell was in across the Mid North Coast this morning but only arrived in Sydney later morning, a little behind schedule.
With this slight delay in arrival I would expect the same down across our region, with the same swell front forecast to arrive overnight. It's been picked up nicely by the Eden wave buoy already.
This doesn't change anything for tomorrow luckily with the swell due to be in by dawn. As seen on the East Coast the swell will be very lully with small 2ft in betweeners ahead of 4ft to occasionally 5ft sets. Some spots will also focus the swell more than others so have a scope of the region if one particular spot isn't performing that well.
The best sets are due to mostly be around that 4ft range with 5ft'ers on the magnets, ebbing and pulsing all day.
A cold front pushing up past us will generate a localised, smaller but more consistent mid-period S'ly swell to 3ft+ into the afternoon on the south magnets and with strong S/SW tending S winds. So target those southern corners.
A secondary reinforcing pulse of E/NE swell is due later tomorrow, and this should hold very inconsistent 3-5ft sets on the magnets Sunday morning before easing through the day along with the S'ly swell from 2ft.
Conditions look much better for the open beaches with a strengthening NW breeze.
The swell will ease off fairly steadily on Sunday afternoon and back from 2-3ft on Monday morning.
Strong NW winds are due to give into a late, shallow SW change so keep an eye on that through the day.
The models are showing some distant E'ly groundswell mid-week but this is from our far swell window and will be shadowed by New Zealand as shown.
Longer term there's not much on the cards now for later next week, but check back here Monday for more info. Have a great weekend!

Hi there, Is there any reason why the St Helens daily report hardly get updates? A trend seems to be when waves are good. It’s a bit frustrating. Cheers
