Easing swell all weekend, small south swell Tuesday
Eastern Tasmania Forecast by Craig Brokensha (issued Friday 15th May)
Best Days: Saturday, dawn Saturday for keen surfers at south swell magnets, Tuesday south swell magnets
Recap
A large pulse of S'ly groundswell filled in yesterday with good winds for semi-protected beaches, but average conditions at locations picking up the most size.
A secondary strong S/SE groundswell has provided solid 3-5ft waves across open beaches this morning with bigger sets at south swell magnets under morning offshores and afternoon sea breezes.
This weekend and next week (May 16 - 22)
Today's strong pulse of S/SE groundswell is due to ease through tomorrow and further into Sunday under favourable winds.
South facing beaches should still offer 3-4ft sets tomorrow morning, before fading from 1-2ft Sunday morning.
W/NW tending variable breezes are due tomorrow, creating clean conditions with fresher W/NW winds Sunday.
Through next week there's nothing major on the cards besides a couple of refracted S'ly groundswell pulses.
The best is due Tuesday, generated by a vigorous polar low generating a fetch of severe-gale W/SW winds through our southern swell window along the polar shelf to the south of the state Sunday.
This should provide inconsistent but good 2ft+ sets across south swell magnets with favourable N/NW winds. Remaining locations will likely be tiny to flat.
Beyond this we may see some small NE windswell developing later in the week followed by S/SE windswell Friday, but we'll discuss this in more detail on Monday. Have a great weekend!
