Fun waves keep coming from active Coral Sea Tradewinds
Central QLD Forecaster Notes by Steve Shearer (issued on Mon 20th March)
This weekend and next week (Mar21-Mar31)
Central QLD: Fun waves keep coming from active Coral Sea Tradewinds
Fun surf has been on offer since Friday with much more to come.
Tradewinds have been active through the Coral Sea, anchored by a small E’ly dip SW of New Caledonia. With the tradewinds fully established we are seeing a fully developed sea state through the Central/Southern Coral Sea which will keep fun waves chugging along through this week.
Expect a small increase into the 2-3ft range at exposed breaks through Tues, likely holding at favourable tidal phases for that size until Fri.
Into this weekend and tradewind swell does look to dial back a notch into the 1-2ft range as the tradewind belt weakens and contracts E’wards. This diminished signal then looks to extend well into next week maintaining small but rideable waves.
Check back Wed and we’ll see how it’s shaping up.
