We’re well and truly on the backside of this swell event; it and the fresh south swell that arrived today will both throttle back through Saturday.
Primary tabs
This swell is aimed away from the Northern NSW coast so we’re looking at progressively smaller wave heights as we track north from Seal Rocks through the Mid North Coast, North Coast and then into Southeast Queensland.
We’ve got a pretty good forecast coming up for Northern NSW (and to a lesser degree SE Qld), however the main juice isn’t due until Thursday.
The weekend’s looking fun if you’ve got a good south swell magnet up your sleeve.
The rest of the week will continue the southerly swell theme, and conditions should be good with generally light winds. Although wave heights will slowly trend downwards, there are a couple of new sources of energy that will maintain plenty of size across the region.
Wave heights will build further throughout Tuesday, ahead of a peak in size late afternoon and for much of Wednesday.
The existing small south swell is expected to ease from Saturday morning onwards, and it’ll become almost flat through Sunday, assisted by strengthening NW tending W’ly winds.
In general, most beaches will remain tiny to flat however a handful of south facing beaches may pick up a few stray 2ft+ sets.
Let me preface these forecast notes by saying that SE Qld is on target for an extended run of tiny to flat conditions.
Northern NSW surfers who enjoy small, long period south swells are in for a treat over the weekend.
