Surfrider Foundation Australia Celebrates Thirty Years
Thirty years ago, Brad Farmer and Tom Kirsop combined forces to create Surfrider Foundation Australia.
Surfrider gave a united voice to surfers - indeed all coast users - who opposed ocean outfalls, coastal mining, egregious development, and the many other issues Surfrider fought in the ensuing three decades.
To celebrate, next month there'll be a thirty year anniversary at the Currumbin Vikings SLSC. The date is Monday 19th July at 7pm.
All are welcome. Tim Baker will be the MC for what will be, "a fun night sharing fond memories, dinner, and the chance to catch up with the legends who brought Surfrider to Australia."

Some light reading about Brad's career: Brad Farmer and the Art of Advocacy
Stu Ball and Greg Howell, absolute legends.
I'll second that.
A lot of crew over the years have kept the Surfrider flag flying, hats off to the lot of them.
A fresh faced Peter Morrison, Moustachiod Mike Perry, and an unusually up-the-back Tim Baker, three great mates and mentors o' mine.
Whadaya mean, unusually up the back? You implying I enjoy the spotlight? Smiley face emoji
... have been known to command the stage from time to time ...
Sounds like a big night,
Stuey Ball deserves another mention though., legend.
Some in the photo look vaguely familiar.
That bloke back right though, he is putting on a good face but he'll be the first to leave that party.
.
20 blokes and 2 chicks. And one of the women is holding the note pad - I wonder if she's just been made secretary/treasurer?
Soon as we get that time machine built we'll head right back and give 'em what for.
I'm not sure if I'd trust too many of those blokes to balance a ledger
That's who turned up on the night. I wonder what we should have done? Driven around the southern Goldy and rustled up some chicks? Fair call on the notepad though, pretty sure that's exactly what happened.
