The Byron Bay Surf Festival begins tomorrow (Friday) and the planets have aligned for the organisers. Long-lined three foot waves – a bit smaller at the Pass – will be on offer for the first day of the festival with the swell slowly tapering off till Sunday. And the weather? Pack your 30 SPF and warm water wax.

The festival is in its second year running and includes even more events than last year. Drawing from the creative energy and surfing heritage of Byron Bay the festival will feature the Australian premiere of Taylor Steele's This Time Tomorrow including a Q&A with Taylor, plus live music, surf and swap meets, freestyle surf sessions, art classes for the kids and more.

The Byron Bay Surf Festival is a non-competitive event with the aim of bringing people together to celebrate surfing and the associated culture of art, music, film, literature, lifestyle, surfboard design and environmentally friendly and sustainable surf craft.

A tremendous effort by the BBSF Committee this, the second time round.

Good to see people from far and wide attend - nice feel, encompassing (great speakers and lecture's) and scheduling.

....and the artwork by the great South Australian Kym Nagler was a revelation!
