2022 Election

Are we saying that all of these are criminals working against the Australian public? Are any of these people doing a good job? Is anything worth praising or we are all destined to slavery? It's not clear to me, I'm under impression that you are generalising across the board which is not fair to people who are doing a good job.
the problem is... 'Scomo/Albo, LNP/Labor'
scomo is possibly the worst LNP leader ever...
and albo is possibly definitely the worst ALP leader ever, ...with the exception perhaps, of a short blip called simon crean, and a long blip called bill shorten... possibly...
you can see dsds's frustrations... but - with respect - being a migrant, i don't think you've seen the decline of the labor party over the last 3 decades, and therefore cannot appreciate how much they have declined, and how much, they are now really just liberals with a 'nicer' schtik...
which is almost worse than being the unapologeric ideological hard cunts, at least liberals are true to their ideology and constituents... labor has become all smoke and mirrors...
they may be 'nicer' or more pleasant to have in office... but their smoke and mirror routine is more offensive than the libs just taking it all away and saying suck it up
even when labor endeavour to do something good, they just come across contrived, false, and snide...
yeh, it may be better than still having morrison there... but really, the microns of difference make it barely worthwhile
labor in the 80's and 90's were much more appealing than the current incarnation - even when they were stripping workers rights and certain privelages away... as they were relatively straight with the public as they did it, they explained it, and took the public along...
geez, even their 90's version of 'woke' bullshit was palateable and popular
now it's all secret deals, secret agendas, and hiding in the shadows
"Our government be it LNP or even Labor really aren't that bad, if they were so bad we wouldn't be so successful on these issues"
"ain't that bad"
or...
we are just 'the lucky country'?
it's a big, on rolling, almost unaswerable question...

Lookout all three stooges are in the house … more incomprehensible word salad from the space cadets that barely can string 3 words together without it being an oxymoron…… whomp whomp whomp

you really are the epitome of the contemporary fake left
a clintonesque 'liberal' to a tee
me, deplorable and happy...
Im not you!

The real advantage we had/have that some other developed countries also have is the foundations of our political system (Westminster System) and law based on (English common law)
We have good proven foundations to build on and tinker and improve.
Luck can happen at times but I'm more a believer in that you create your own luck.
yeh, you're right indo
but the real luck is the westminster system, ...imported, imposed, or invaded (depending on your view) ...to a big, wide, largely empty, land full of resources ripe for exploitation...
no matter whether it's labor or lnp in power, there is plenty of wealth to share...
the only mystery is how these two parties have done it so badly over the last 20 years or so
there is so much abundance of food, nature, and mineral wealth in oz we should all be living like oil shieks....
but somehow, these two bands of idiots we call our leaders, have also enjoyed the benefit of an economy booming addition of millions and millions of migrants through this period, yet, miraculously.... somehow.... they still have failed to provide the basics of secure housing and employment for much of the population...
it beggars belief
but life is good... it truly is... generally...
despite labor and liberal fucking everything up
not because of any semblance of good management
'the lucky country'
indeed
Wonder if being the Westminster system, a constitutional monarchy, we could ask the King to get rid of both lots of morons?
@sypkan I can’t truly know how Labor party looked like 30 years ago as I am 37 years old. I can study it of course but I don’t have the direct experience. Overall, I think there’s hope and I’m optimistic about the future. There are issues but I also see a lot of good stuff going on.

It really comes back to ideology of what a governments role is.
If your view is a governments role is to provide for you along the lines of socialist type view(which I've never pictured you as), then yeah you wouldn't be happy, and i dont think many people with socialist type views would ever be happy as it would never feel like enough.
My personal view is a government role is more to provide an environment for opportunity where people then achieve success, whatever success means to you, it might just be having a job a family and owning a house or it might mean owning a big business and owning three houses and living a playboy lifestyle.
That opportunity has been there for the last 30 years and the majority of the population has taken advantage of it and yeah a big factor in how healthy our economy has been is on the back of a resource boom and immigration, personally i think we all have benefited.
While its good to see someone youngish like Flollo so optimistic on the future, for me i think the future is less certain than its been for decades.

We already have the PV, so this is the hot water upgrade. My general rule is if it can pay back in 4yrs, I can justify the spend. From the coastal erosion I've seen here on the midwest coast (I know, La Nina elevated sea levels with currents by 10-15cm, but the erosion is a reminder of what could happen) it's probably a good thing to do beyond the cost.
Could be up for vehicle upgrade and electric still too much to justify so a 2nd handy would do, what do crew think of E85? Better for environment I'd think, better as not fossil fuel money to send offshore, too.
velocityjohnno. Good one. We have a an Apricus evacuated tube glass array on the roof with 30 tubes and it’s accompanying solar electric hot water storage unit at ground level, that if required is electrically boosted (from our own PV set up) enough for a 3-4 bedroom home. system. With each tube being cylindrical, light from any direction can permeate around the total surface area of each. It’s a folly to think this type of hot water unit heats water in the glass array, in fact it’s air that’s heated and as the name suggests the ‘tubes are evacuated’. All 30 tubes with killer hot air contained within, in turn heat a manifold at the top of the unit that contains a copper pipe containing pressurised water. In essence heat is transported from the tube to heat the copper pipe and hot water is sent down to the ground storage unit . For the small grey dull parts of the year here in Victoria, which have been many under that cheeky little girl, La Niña, any electrical boosting to the storage unit is provided by our own self generated power from the PV system.
I personally think that the new Apricus Heat Pump set up is now the way to go for heating water, such incredible technology, can also be coupled with your PV set up. From my readings and understanding, it’s more efficient overall, it takes up less space and is a stand alone unit on the ground.
Each of the systems aforementioned are only a one day install job. Whatever you decide, you and the environment are going to be better off. We’ve got one hell of a Thermonuclear Reactor above our heads, its not extinguishing soon, so we ALL should use it where possible. Good to chat mate,
This is funny in a number of ways
"Lidia Thorpe resigns from Greens leadership after relationship with former bikie boss Dean Martin revealed
An undisclosed relationship between Greens senator Lidia Thorpe and an ex-bikie boss has cost her a senior position within the party."
https://www.news.com.au/finance/work/leaders/lidia-thorpe-stands-down-fr...
haha, that is funny
was funny even before reading this bit...
"At the time, she was also a member of the joint parliamentary law enforcement committee, which was receiving confidential briefings about bikie gangs and organised crime."
fwiw, I quite like her, and always thought she was a bit rough round the edges, now I see why, the rebels aren't really one of those gangs that can portray the ruse of just rough, but misunderstood good guys...
oh well, the greens 'inconsistent' position on a voice to parliment will be easier to push now
I dare say she'll go quiet for a while...
maybe
It just seems an unlikely match Bikies often being seen as far right in some ways and her far left.
But on the flip side i can both see them getting off on it as almost has a tabo aspect.
You can just imagine the bikie boss laughing with his mates " You know who im banging???"
And then going into detail about their in bed antics.
"then them going, no way.....farrrrk, I've got to get me some of this greens girl action"
And then the bikies hitting the Uni bar and things not going real well for them.
lLIdia met that bikie the same way she meets all her guys, in a gang bang.
^^ Really, mate?
Two grubs coming out to play.

I loathe to agree with albo... who's clearly in political point scoring / cut the greens down to size mode...
but it is hard to believe adam bandt could work so closely with thorpe and not have been aware of this relationship

Do i really have to put up with this tosser trolling every post of mine?
It would be different if he actually added to the conversations(which long ago he actually did) but I have not seen one post of late from him that is on topic, the last half a dozen post i have seen from him in three or four seperate threads have just been these type of post directed at trolling me trying to piss me off, they aren't comments made in a heated argument where people lose their cool and you can go, okay yeah it was warranted, but just 100% unprovoked trolls.
Surely these comments and pattern of behaviour break Swellnet's forum code of conduct as the intention is clearly just to get under my skin and rev me up which then just risk threads derailing into chaos.
Im not asking for anyone to be banned, but surely i have the right to not have him constantly try to rev me up when its totally unprovoked?...
Anyway i shouldn't have to explain my comment, it's a realistic scenario in how bikies or any rough nuts would talk, people dont have to agree with me or find it amusing thats fine we have different outlooks or sense of humour, even the comment like Goofy's WTF which just gave me a giggle and i personally though quadzilla comment was a bit WTF and crude (expect what Stunets comment was about) but each to their own.
Anyway Guy, you are gutless, you are super cagey even after years of posting here you have never posted a pic of yourself or given enough info on who you are or even where you live, not that any poster needs too but if your going to constantly troll me at least have the balls to do so, I've done all three and its very easy to work out who i am as others have.
If i knew who you were or looked like there is no way you would troll me as you do and then come down the Island because if i saw you down here id confront you about your actions and see if you would say the same to my face, which id highly doubt.
Anyway it's against Swellnet rules to dox anyone here so no names here but if anyone does know who this tosser is id really appreciate a tip off, as id hate to think i could be passing this guy at my beach carpark or sitting next to him in the water and not have the opportunity to pull him up and confront him for his trolling, so yeah you can contact me Mick here.
https://www.teloislandsurfhouse.com/prices
BTW. If the info is decent, id honestly shout you are slab or bottle of something as kind of over this tosser and again really sucks to think i could be surfing with him or passing him in the surf carpark and not having the opportunity to pull him up.
Reckon that's all fair enough.
@Guy Smiley, time to pull your head in a bit. Unless you abuse everyone you disagree with in real life, please don't do the same here.
Indo if you dish it out you should be able to take it.

At the risk of sounding petulant which I know isn’t tolerated……
Diversity in all its forms including of opinion is a good thing but when is ever acceptable to comment on someone’s sex life and especially so in a public forum? Truth be told if SN was moderated like e.g. any daily newspaper, while acknowledging it aren’t, that comment wouldn’t have been published and would most likely have seen the author permanently banned and yet …..

Seriously Guy you are sounding like an old school christian conservative, if you really did have an issue on that aspect of my comment you would have also addressed the comment of quadzilla's that i personally thought was pushing things further and no offence to him but its not something i would have said i see that comment more as kinda misogynist, (maybe people see mine as misogynist?.) I personally feel my comment was more aimed at the couple and taking the piss out of not just her and the greens but also bikie culture or bikie stereo types that are still often true.
Anyway the reality of life and possibly this unlikely coupling is there sometimes is a weird type of attraction including sexual attraction between complete unlikely opposites, the classic good girl likes the bad boy, bad boy likes the pure good girl, this is kind of a modern day unlikely coupling/ attraction, a bikie gang leader with a greens leader.
Anyway my post above wasn't about just this one troll is was about the last atleast four post or so directed at me when i havent been engaged with you in conversation and as far as i can see those last four or so post are the only post you have posted on Swellnet forums in that time. (of course i might have missed a post of yours)
Anyway we aren't a fans of each other or each others views, sure write off what i say or better still debate it, but please just save the personal attacks for heated arguments when they can be kinda justified and drop the totally unprovoked ones.
Kudos to the profile pic change though :D
Bounty still applies though.

For those that dont know in Tassie where me and Hiccups both lived as grommets at different times though, this was(possibly still is?) a drink of choice as cheap and warmed you up.

Learnt to put in my beer as a teenager in Darwin. Still do it on cold winter camping trips. Couple of people here drink it but had never heard of putting in their beer.
"With a dash of Stones" was an 80's thing down this way, before better beer options came available. Up there with marsarla and coke in my books, but each to their own.
Stones Green Ginger Wine was cheaper than beer back in the early 70's. The first time I got drunk, first drunken spew was Stones, 1973. Never touched a drop since. Coincidentally 1973 was the year I went to my first concert, The Stones at Kooyong, and the first year I got stoned, Good times.
blackers wrote:"With a dash of Stones" was an 80's thing down this way, before better beer options came available. Up there with marsarla and coke in my books, but each to their own.
Used to put it in Geelong Bitter on dollar pot nights. Didn't help. Worst beer ever.
I knew a toothless old school bricky’s labourer who broke his back and questioned the doctor’s prescription for painkillers. He went home and existed on Stones Green Ginger till the pain subsided instead.
Medicinal!
Ah good times.
Here's to another truly shit beer - Reschs anyone?
I’ve been drinking Reschs on occasion lately. It’s just piss. Not really a beer snob. Just make sure it’s not fruity or too sweet like that Fat Yak gear.
Has scomo thrown his hat in the ring with the tories yet ? It would be another feather in his hat .

This is actually really interesting unless she had to wear it for some reason to do with the event which is probably unlikely, you can bet she didn't wear it by accident she is smart and calculated if it was her choice you can bet she was doing some subtle fishing trying to grab some media attention to bring attention to the issue of alcohol bans being lifted in some communities and the negative effect already being seen.
Basically any media is good media and would be very easy for her to point out the difference between responsible drinking most of us do while also putting a focus on problem alcohol can also be in excess.
Or simply a classic example of a double standard. She is a politician, pure and simple.

Town camps are not remote communities. Price knows this but continues to push her false narrative. https://t.co/vv40sn3Vl3
Maybe Jacinta Price is ignorant enough for it to not penetrate between her ears.
I mean, she really doesn't represent Indigenous people, just ask them.
Indo, I think you’re clutching at straws with that convoluted theory. Looks like a fishing shirt to me. There might be a slight chance you’re correct as it is that bad of a beer it could cure anyone of excess drinking. Either way it’s seems unbelievably silly to be wearing it in the context of this political tour. Has anyone seen a full pic or others for context?
