Australia - you're standing in it
Ashsam mate.
Two years is a long time in politics but a short time in governance.
Some Zeitgeist in here:
https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/real-life/australians-bemoan-nations-d...
"“We could once be proud of our world class free healthcare system. No one in Australia had to pay a cent to visit a doctor, you just went. Hospitals’ emergency didn’t have 12+ hour wait times, nurses weren’t being forced into doing triple shifts,” they wrote.
“Our public school system was up there with the best in the world. I am not exaggerating when I say that it is in a critical state. The conditions for teachers are just horrific, not the pay, even teachers will tell you the pay isn’t the issue, but the sheer amount of admin they are expected to do, plus apparently the jobs of the parents.
“We have gone from a country where a full-time employee earning a median wage could afford a home, because his loan was only four to five times his annual salary, not 15-20. And the fact that people actually considered them homes, not investment vehicles you could rent out to peasants to grow fat on like the fedual lord you are.
“Somehow, a household income has gone from one person working full-time with the other looking after the kids, to two people working full-time but no real increase to buying power.
“What exactly is there to be proud of or excited by in Australia? We have been shown to be a nation of shortsighted, greedy, selfish lemmings.” "
And here's the reddit threat inspiring the article:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AskAnAustralian/comments/1d68v3n/is_it_just_me_...
My biggest concern is that we've replaced what was a truly diversified economy (circa 1970 - resources/primary/industrial/small financial/downstream services; featuring sustainable population) with an economy that leans on rocks and real estate, never letting prices of the latter correct. It then begets a hunger games for tenants and a servitude for many purchasers. Education is pathway to residency and the value of said education has fallen. The services economy that remains, is increasingly precarious being built on consumer spending. To create the illusion of economic growth (jerbs) we import a historically titanic amount of people, who then compete for work and shelter with those already suffering, while driving up CO2 emissions and land clearing on the fringe of cities. If there was a future of the 'clever country' this ain't it.
ashsam wrote:lol how could you defend that muppet after that car crash of a interview on ACA last night?
2 years and he has done jack re those ripping off NDIS.
Was even trying to blame the last gov after 2 years haha
@ashsam, the NDIS went into post trial operation in 2016, Here is a list of who was running social services in Australia from 2016 until Shorten in 2022...
Senator the Hon Anne Ruston was Minister for Families and Social Services from 29 May 2019 to 23 May 2022.
Senator the Hon Linda Reynolds CSC was the Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme from 30 March 2021 to 23 May 2022.
The Hon Michael Sukkar MP was the Minister for Housing and the Minister for Homelessness, Social and Community Housing between 29 May 2019 and 23 May 2022.
The Hon Michelle Landry MP was the Assistant Minister for Children and Families from 28 August 2018 to 23 May 2022.
The Hon Stuart Robert MP was the Minister for Government Services and the Ministers for the National Disability Insurance Scheme between 25 May 2019 and 30 March 2021.
The Hon Luke Howarth MP was Assistant Minister for Community Housing, Homelessness and Community Services between 29 June 2019 and 22 December 2020.
The Hon Paul Fletcher MP was the Minister for Families and Social Services between 28 August 2018 and 29 May 2019.
The Hon Sarah Henderson MP was the Assistant Minister for Social Services, Housing and Disability Services between 28 August 2018 and 29 May 2019.
The Hon Dan Tehan MP was the Minister for Social Services from 20 December 2017 to 28 August 2018.
The Hon Jane Prentice MP was the Assistant Minister for Social Services and Disability Services from 18 February 2016 to 28 August 2018.
The Hon Dr David Gillespie MP was the Assistant Minister for Children and Families from 20 December 2017 to 28 August 2018.
The Hon Christian Porter was Minister for Social Services from 21 September 2015 to 20 December 2017.
Some interesting names in there. Christian Porter, Stu Robert, Sukkar, Linda Reynolds, and so on.
Shorten has admitted there are deep seated problems with the NDIS being ripped off by criminals and fraudulent providers, an example of which the A Current Affair story last night exposed.
He has stated he is committed to removing these type of providers.
He has to follow due process in doing so. That takes time. It will take longer than two years.
The provider shown in the ACA story was already under investigation by his department.
Prior to him taking over the Dept. of Social Services, it was the LNP who set up the post trial system and registered the rip off merchants, and did nothing to stop them.
I genuinely believe Shorten is the first minister in charge of the NDIS that is trying to do something about the rip offs.
I'm not necessarily defending Shorten, I don't vote for the ALP and have been critical of them in these threads plenty of times.
I just object to the insult to my and Australia's intelligence that occurs with the constant bullshitting and bullshit that passes for "news" and "facts" in the Karen Media we've got here.
You should object too. But it seems you are another victim of it.
And as for the "muppets", I believe it was Scott Morrison who described his own party, the LNP as "The Muppet Show" in 2018 ...https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-09-10/warren-entsch-urged-colleagues-to...
As you say (often) "lol".
Nice try Adam…My source …The guardian …you tube…senate inquiry…shorten requested her….but Billy never takes the blame…ha ha….slippery critter but not bright….blame the staff…he usually does.

Already the wheels are falling off this story.
If only the media held the LNP to the same standards of scrutiny as Labor, still waiting on Beetroots drought envoy notes via text.
Another day, another Sky news MSM pile on Labor blaming everything on them like they have been in government for decades. pfft
I'm pretty disappointed in the Albo govt for quite a number of reasons, but this click bait bullshit continually being sprouted by LNP and then amplified by media is damaging to Australia and its democracy.

Well then Opti, your "source", care to share a reference where it says or shows "Shorten requested her" or one where Shorten was involved in hiring her or negotiating her contract.
I haven't found one. I've been looking.
You name "The Guardian, Senate Estimates, You Tube"
But no actual reference.
So don't be "slippery" yourself.
Be specific.

They do when they are in government.
Did you even see the interview and the story before it? Wasn't a pile on lol
Come back when you have watched it.
^^ @opti and the other stooges here would have some, well actually maybe some, credibility if they had been on here on a daily basis for the last decade given the corruption of the past 3terms of LNP government, but they weren’t were they so fuck off
Optimist wrote:Bill Shorten has hired a speech writer for 2 years on a $620,000 contract.
She’s normally hired by people like prime ministers to deliver daggy predictable speeches. He has found thinking for himself difficult.
Even though he only runs Centrelink, Bill thought it helpful to spend a bucketful of taxpayers money on improving his zingers.

Honestly as bad as Albo is i think we should all be thankful that Shorten never became PM, that guy is such a nasty slimy piece of work.

@ashsam "Did you even see the interview and the story before it? Wasn't a pile on lol
Come back when you have watched it."
I did.
The provider was registered and operated fraudulently, allegedly, prior to Shorten taking over the NDIS. She did this under Morrison's government and no action was taken then. None.
No ACA story then, none.
Shorten's department identified and is investigating her, and she will be prosecuted once due process has been undertaken. Shorten said this.
They were already undertaking this process. before ACA joined in the fabricated pile on.
And it was a pile on, the ACA host was hostile, ignored the role the LNP played and followed the Kill Bill playbook, interrupting his answers and ignoring the actual cause of the problem.
It was an exercise in creating faux outrage. They do it pretty regularly. They all do it.
I thought Shorten equipped himself quite well under the barrage.
What more do you expect from him?
Why are you not critical of the LNP who registered the woman and failed to investigate complaints against her?
Why are you not critical for the amount of fraud, estimated at $2B, that has been accrued during the six years the LNP were in charge of the NDIS?
I think I know the answer.
Like many things, the ALP were left with a shit sandwich of a mess of rorts and illegality in the NDIS caused by the incompetent, corrupt LNP.
I give Shorten credit for being the first NDIS minister to go on record saying he will do something about it.
Time will tell how successful he is.
You right wingers, you and Opti and old mate Indo need to upgrade your bullshit detectors, take the blinkers off and stop being manipulated by narratives and bullshit being put out there by forces in this country that really don't care about you, that are there to represent the billionaires and multinationals and would shit on you and your interests and your democracy without a care in the world.
You just look like a pack of gullible dummies to me.
"lol"
Shorten is on the nose big time with voters of all persuasions. He lost the 2016 and the 2019(unlosable)election because he acts like an entitled, arrogant little smart arse prick. Name one thing of note that he's done since his union days when he came to prominence with the Beaconsfield mine collapse. He is the Liberal party's biggest asset and makes Dutton look intelligent.
ACA ? Does anyone seriously watch that ? Giggles tell me you’re not a fan .

^ not everyone knows blinded by the light is a springsteen cover,
https://americansongwriter.com/meaning-of-blinded-by-the-light-by-manfre...
quote from above article:
When putting their own spin on “Blinded by the Light,” Manfred Mann’s Earth Band changed a few of Springsteen’s original lyrics. The most recognizable part of the song, Blinded by the light / Revved up like a Deuce / Another runner in the night, was initially, Cut loose like a Deuce / Another runner in the night.
Even though this chorus is the most iconic part of the song, it is also notoriously misheard by fans. In the cover, Revved up like a Deuce sounds an awful lot like Wrapped up like a douche.
In 2005, Springsteen himself commented on this amusing mistake. “Deuce was like a Little Deuce Coupe, as in a 2-seater Hot Rod. Douche is a feminine hygienic procedure. But what can I say, the public spoke,” he joked.

&pp=ygUUbGl0dGxlIGZvb3QgYmlnIGZvb3Q%3DHey Base.... i love that here in SwellNetVille, one can bring up Bruce Springsteen without three RWNJs chiming in to bash him. Over in SeppoLand, he is a Public Enemy to the nutjobs, and they will drag their politics into any conversation, appropriate or not. They cannot pass up a chance to slam Brucie. It is a sickness.

Did not know that was the case.
Didn't he use to be a hero of working class USA? Sing their songs.
Love the boss, his biography is one of the better ones I have read.
Seems like a good bloke, who worked incredibly hard to develop his talent, great song writer and performer.
Guess hard to compete though with Kid Rock with the RWNJ's .. :)
In his biography he discusses this gig and how nervous he was and thought he sucked.
Not really the case

&pp=ygUjYnJ1Y2Ugc3ByaW5nc3RlZW4gdGh1bmRlciByb2FkIGxpdmU%3DFirst ive ever heard of conservatives hating on Bruce Springsteen.
I thought they like him like Andy said the whole working class thing.
What did he do?
Only artist ive seen conservatives turning on in recent years was Neil Young when he had his sook about Spotify allowing Joe Rogan to host guest who had alternative views on Covid.
Okay i googled it, seems he said he would leave USA if Trump got re-elected in 2024.

Lynyrd Skynyrd even wrote their most successful song in response to Young's Southern man.
Edit: In real life apparently, they got on pretty well before most of LS died in plane crash.

Or even headbangers, or upfront crush, or crowd surfing. All of which are a bit of a personal and possibly a selfish way to experience a great gig. Just one big mob, hands up cheering and coming together.
Heroin, coke and ice.
Did you know you can buy these drugs using NDIS funding?
It's the latest nightmare for NDIS Minister Bill Shorten.

Ben Fordham is a dog whistling cunt. Labelling people on the NDIS as drug addicts to discredit Shorten is gutter politics at its worst. Only a complete ignoramous would cling to that.
No! Can’t ride a bike man.
