Kamala Harris has law degrees from Howard and UC Hastings. She worked in various DA's offices, was elected DA of SF, then was twice elected AG of California, before being elected to the US Senate in 2016 where she took a range of moderately progressive policy positions and was noted for her forensic questioning in Senate committees.
She must now wish that someone had told her early on not to bother with all that hard work because all that mattered was her race and gender.
She's much like the rest of them, more competent than many probably, but lacking charisma.

Kennedy needed the southern democrats so he picked LBJ. Obama needed an avuncular, familiar figure to soften his novel and particular characteristics so he chose Biden.
