I can give you more explanation on where my interest comes from though
Ive always had an interest in Egypt love docco's on it, and once i started digging into Israel and the temple mount and the deep rich history of the Jewish people and their resilience, it's just as interesting.
And like many i learnt all the stories of that land from the bible stories, once you dig deeper into things, even as non religious person its like okay cool that happened here and actually might have had some historical basis.
And yes that land has a huge cultural significance to Western culture, to such an extent our whole year revolves around Christmas and Easter and stories of the land.
Ive also just been fasciated by Israel as a unique successful country in the same way i have an interest in Singapore, they are just really unique countries that just punch way above their weight.
I only learnt a few days ago that Israel ranks fifth in the world on the world happiness' index, how the fuck does this happen?
They are quite literally surrounded by people that want to kill them and even in a normal year without war still have to regularly run to bomb shelters.
