April/May Trip Advice

Gday Guys,

Looking for suggestions on potential places I can take the pregnant missus and little one (and hopefully get some waves) before the next one comes along. Looking to go in April or May while we are allowed to fly. I was about to book Maldives but apparently that's out for pregnant women with Zika. So is Fiji and probably Indo.

Looking for a relaxing place, within 20 hours flight and happy to spend some coin (even up to $1k per night if its a cool place/package). Was thinking Hawaii (Kauai or Maui) but have no idea where to go or how it is surf wise at that time of year.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Cheers,

Tom.

Jeez, if I could afford to spend $1k per night, I wouldn't need to be soliciting for free advice on Swellnet.

LHI is probably not a traditional surf trip destination, but it’s a top spot. Absolutely beautiful, water is clear, lagoon on one side with a barrier reef, beaches on the other side. Great hiking, snorkeling, fishing, cool little village atmosphere, and you’re not going to get crowds.

I only surfed once while I was there but it looked like there were a few options.

Not cheap, but the accommodation standard was excellent and great food at the restaurants etc. amazing seafood.

Never been there but agree could suit, from the doccos etc and photos and stores ive heard its an amazing place obviously geographically its like a little island out of peter pan or treasure island or something

But apart from some waves it's also got world class fishing (expect some decent snorkelling) and very unique flora and fauna too. (has four different palm species not found anywhere else in the world)

Ive never been but have non surfer friends that have and the hike up mt grower looks pretty cool too 800 metres or so above sea level

It’s only trouble is it can get some weather, but if you score some settled conditions, you’re in for a treat. The locals leave their keys in the ignition and their surfboards on the beach can you believe
