Boardriders clubs

Just wanted to put it out there to get people’s thoughts on boardriders clubs?
I have never really wanted to join one as I never grew up surfing in a competitive environment. I rarely surf with crowds and I surf because of the connection to nature, the surprise of what each day will bring and being able to get a bit of quiet time. I’d be interested to know people’s experiences both positive and negative.
I could see the positives from a social perspective or for taking the kids down to get involved. I guess the culture at each club is probably quite different.

Olympics should be based on this format. Very teams focused. Good event

^^ I was thinking the same thing. It is entertaining for non surfers too. Much more action and drama.

One hundred percent.
The reason I lost interest in watching competitive surfing is that every time I tuned in there were two people sitting in flat ocean for most of the time. One person holding priority trying to stop the other person from surfing.
Eventually the old throw the tail two or three times, claim and appeal to the judges, jump off and call for the ski.
Teams events hold value for the reasons in the comments above and more.
Levels the playing field.
More inclusive. More athletic.
More realistic.

Maybe I'm out of the loop... but I didn't see a Kirra surfriders team there. Everyone else seemed to be represented
