Gawd, another thing to spend money on. I have leather seats. First, last, and only time. Was a mistake. Looks nicer and easy enough to clean, but hotter than the 5th level of Hell in the summertime.

I've had both too. Tbh, there's no significant difference for me.

Black Duck-style covers all the way.
After a big trip you just take the things off and scrub 'em clean.
Sweat, food, dirt, no problems.

Hmmm, my ten year old sheepskins in the old 4wd are nearly as crusty and unkempt as a stoners hair in the 70's.
Thanks for the tip.
Looking at getting a new car. Can't go too big because of where I park but am thinking of a Nissan Qashqai or Honda HRV. Both reasonably compact SUV with decent storage, reliable enough names, hopefully better A/C than my VW...
Figuring leather interior is better for cleaning (sunscreen, water from wetties etc) but hotter and sticky in the summer? so upholstery might be better?... I do have one of those covers for the driver seat so I can just hope in with wettie on which is great.. but i'm also gonna be taking buddies so just wondering which is better all round for a car that's used for surf trips a lot.
Anyone care to weigh in and share opinion on this important first-world consideration.
