Seeking info on an old article in Tracks
I reckon Stu will have a good idea...
Nah, I don't remember it but it sounds like something Tim Baker might've written, however Tim's tenure at Tracks ended in 1991. If you think you may have read it then, you can contact Tim on Twitter or FB where he's pretty active.
Did you read it in Tracks when it was newspaper size or book size? That'll help narrow down the date.
I've got almost all issues from mid-70s onwards. Kinda need more clues before I can go searching.
little known fact!!
Article written by a collaboration between Nick Carrol and Captain Goodvibes and that issue was the biggest selling issue ever, but now not one copy exists!
The hemp paper it was printed on combined with the hash infused ink, when rolled to the captains 'mega joint' tutorial printed on the inside cover, blew peoples minds and caused Nicks hair to fall out and stunted his little bros growth hormones.
To boot, all the creatures mentioned in the article where interrogated by the Feds and the only survivor to escape alive was bloody Jarrett!
Best leave sleeping dogs lie on that one Banjoman.
You do Stu .... can you also dredge up any articles from Aunty Gwendoline?
Sounds like LJ might be your man for that.
well LJ?
sorry sorry, just got back from rehab, still got issues with that issue.
And GS, low blow binging up Auntie G with Stu, many a rumour of a love child between her and the Captain GV who would be around Stu's age.
I'm shocked, I always looked upon aunty Gwen with great kindness, her advice always eagerly read and to this morning cherished. To think there may have been a dalliance between her and the Captain is just too much to bear.
word is it wasn't just our Gwenny who fell for the ribald advances of the Pig of Steel.
just wait for the avalanche of 'me too' claims bubbling under the surface at Whaley
yes indeed he had no end of conquests over the years, I was reliably told he was forced to have a sign mounted above the work bench "vassals must vacate by 10 am".
If Astro could only talk, the tales he could tell. Any idea where the local companion ended up?
Changed your tune a bit eh Princess ?
Amazing isn't it? Try and help someone one week, and they piss on your shoes the next.
Definitely would not have a twin in his quiver! And you reckon I’m crusty!
Hello
I am trying to track down an old article in Tracks magazine, from probably 20yrs ago or longer.
I don't know what edition it was in, but I'm hoping some one will remember.
It was like a Dao of Surfing, about analogies in nature that guided the developing surfer.
It read kind of like a Buddhist or Taoist scripture or guide.
The young budding surfer was instructed to follow the ways of different animals as they showed you how to understand and develop their relationship with the ocean, and their surfing.
The first animal was the Pelican, who knows exactly when & where to stand on the rock closest to crashing waves, who knows where it's save to stand and doesn't move when waves exploded on the reef.
Then moved on to the crab who moves sideways, with the current, to obtain his goal with least resistance, rather than moving head-on against the sea.
Then it went through other animal "totems," the shark, the whale etc.
Does anyone remember this or know where old editions of Tracks are kept so i can research them?
Internet searches have showed up nothing.
I'd be much obliged if anyone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!
